Héctor Oaks needs little introduction, the acclaimed techno wunderkind and friend of Bassiani has taken the club scene by storm in recent years with his unflinching and witty sounds. Not for nothing either, few DJs deliver such Herculean sets without so much as a dip in momentum. For the hundredth instalment of our Podcast series we’re releasing a very special recording of a set at Horoom’s NYE 2018 party played under his Cadency alias. We’re no stranger to parties but this one sticks out in our memory, one of the best, if not the best.

NEBBIERI is a stage name of a charismatic DJ, Marita Nebieridze, whose sets are based on the synthesis of techno, electro, and breakbeat. Her music vision was inspired at an early age by artists such as Kate Bush, The Prodigy, Psychic TV, Wendy Carlos, Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, and many more. The inspiration was depicted in her wonderful record collection. Later on, her enthusiasm transformed into a new initiative - aged 18, Marita eventually started DJing and throwing a regular home party series in Germany, alongside friends and like-minded people.

Since returning to Georgia, Marita debuted at HOROOM and then at BASSIANI’s queer night series HOROOM NIGHTS. Besides music, things that really inspire her are sci-fi literature and the surrounding environment and social life with its daily occurrences. Therefore, she considers DJing to be a very special responsibility, as inspired by the music and social happenings simultaneously, NEBBIERI thinks a DJ can compose and express a dramaturgically rigorous story.

After her absolute masterclass of a set at our ''We Are Not Alone'' 1st of May Weekender earlier this year, we are extremely excited to welcome Newa's contribution to our podcast series! Flawless!

For Newa, when DJing, the emotional guidance she uses to locate the structure of her set is key. She builds something that has all the ingredients of classic techno and at the same time perfectly mirrors its present sound. She explores the low-level end of the bass-spectrum as well as cunningly introducing squelchy acid together with intense melodies. Newa’s techno is direct with an intense presence, yet never forceful or intrusive.
