Seadog is the project of Brighton-based musician and songwriter Mark Benton. 

The project began with Benton at the nucleus of an ever-changing cast of musical friends where each performer would bring their own piece of imagination to the music. 

Seadog are currently a five-piece that combine a variety of influences into a myriad sound of lullabies with anthemic electric and acoustic textures.

Patient Hands is the solo-project of Alex Stooshinoff, a composer and pop musician from the Canadian Prairies. 

“At Parting” is the opening track of his upcoming album entitled “Stoic”, which is about a several year long sickness and the warp and the weft of mystical experience that ran through it. 

The song concerns the feeling of having lost oneself, and awoken in the metaphorical dark. 

Stooshinoff currently lives in Montreal, where he studies philosophy and electroacoustics.

CA:RU is the solo project of Cardiff’s Ryan Edwards. 

Edwards lays out ambient, experimental, off kilter beats that have all the feels of the Ethereal. 

Distorted RnB influenced vocals and ominous drums resonate through dreamy synths that take the listner on a haunting journey of nostalgia. 

CA:RU’s first upcoming EP (11:11) takes influence from the rawness of nature with pulsating rhythms, amorphous textures and grounding vibes to create a dreamy atmosphere of oneness.

Vákoum is an American duo formed in New York, 2013, by multi-instrumentalists and producers Kelli Rudick and Natalia Padilla. 

Israeli/American composer Kelli Rudick can be heard on the drums, mbira, vocals, guitar, live looping, and synth, while Mexican composer Natalia Padilla, is featured on guitar, synths, live looping, sampling and vocals.  

By merging the analog and digital world, the two create an intricate environment for their moving arrangements. Their sound is a dive into a warm sonic pool, meeting at that elusive, delicate intersection of complexity and raw, earnest heart.

Vàkoum - Still Ready

Twin Studies started out as the solo bedroom recording project of Jay Stanley in late 2012. 

The project grew to a four piece in 2013 after Stanley enlisted the help of other local musicians and friends to complete a live lineup, and released their debut EP, Precious Places, the following year. 

In 2015 the band released two songs, “Attic Room” and “Space Girl.”

After a complete change of musicians except for Stanley in 2016, Twin Studies is now releasing a new record. 

The band is specifically chasing much more involved guitar melodies while still maintaining a wall of sound and a driving rhythm. 

"Years and Years" is the best representation of the rest of the songs on the release since it combines and distills elements of all of them – floating pop riffs, droning guitars, and lush synths.

Bridal Shower formed in late 2015. 

The group formed around a love of 90's post punk and noise rock bands such as Sonic Youth, Jesus Lizard, Fugazi and Melvins. 

The band quickly headed to the studio to record their debut album Negatives which was recorded at 7 West Studios, mixed at Glassworks Studio Recording and mastered at Chicago Mastering Service. Negatives was released on June 9th 2017 on vinyl, tape and digital. 

The band have been seen performing consistently round the UK, sharing bills with bands such as Lvl Up, Big Business, Young Legionnaire, Slowcoaches and Qui.

Based in Provo (Utah), Goldmyth is a virtuosic singer-songwriter making electro-pop music in an unusual way: with the harp.  

Indeed, Goldmyth is a classically trained harpist who decided to use the instrument to experiment with a variety of music styles. 

“One day, I realized I could merge my two passions and write songs for the harp” she shares.  “I’d lock myself in the practice room in the school of music and write songs.  Then, I started using a looping pedal to add vocal layers.”

Influenced by artists like Joni Mitchell, James Black and, most notably, Sufjan Stevens,  Goldmyth seamlessly blends glimmering harp chords with weighty synths and springy percussion.

Since the birth of the label in 1997, FatCat has always had a solid engagement with material sent to us as demos. Where numerous labels will throw demos straight into the trash unopened, at FatCat we've always made an effort to listen and reply to every demo received. Numerous FatCat artists have been picked up having been discovered in this way (including Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad, David Karsten Daniels, Welcome, Odonis Odonis, Get Back Guinozzi!, Silje Nes, Ensemble, Xinlisupreme, Songs Of Green Pheasant, Janek Schaefer - to name just a few), and it has always been really exciting to unexpectedly discover something great in this way. Just as when we started, this philosophy of keeping an ear to the ground and attempting to support good new creativity remains at the core of what we do.

With rapid changes in technology of recent years, the majority of demos are now sent to us electronically, but we are still happy to receive material through the post as CDs (please mark as 'demo submission' and mail FatCat Records, PO Box 3400, Brighton, BN1 4WG). Whilst we are still receiving a high quantity of demos, with our ever-busy release schedule and ongoing commitments to an expanding roster of signed artists, FatCat are now finding fewer opportunities to physically release material from new artists. As an antidote to this, back in 2004, we began using our website to showcase the best of the demos we were receiving. Alongside a DIY microsite built specifically to help people who wanted to release their own music, we hosted the our favourite demos online, with artwork and MP3s available for free download. In 2010 we began to use the more immediate freedom of SoundCloud as a platform - setting up a dropbox for people to submit tracks to and a player on the front of our site to showcase the best demo submissions. 

In February 2012, the new and improved FatCat demo site you are now using was launched, again using SoundCloud as the engine to drive the site. We have kept all of the the original demo artists on the new site - grouping them in collections archived by year. There is a lot of really great material stored away here, so please do spend some time looking around. 

The choices of who we have asked to join this archive are highly selective, and we make no apologies for this. These are tracks we consider to be really good quality material, tracks that we are happy to help promote and to have associated with FatCat.
