Composed for the new Netflix hit series Katla, Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and composer Högni Egilsson has created ‘Sensus Terrae (Voice of Katla)’; a sonic exploration bringing the heart of the volcano to life. 

Using seismic data, the renowned artist, formerly of GusGus, has teamed up with scientist Kristín Jónsdóttir, lead actor-singer GDRN and the Cantoque Ensemble, creating something otherworldly. 

"Inside Katla, there are eight active areas that have their own earthquake frequency. We took these frequencies and transform them into musical expressions. The volcanic activity is actually a conversation between these eight areas – eight voices inside Katla.”

Recorded by Resina and Michał Kupicz, with striking additional mixing & production work by Daniel Rejmer (Ben Frost, Björk, Foals, Girls Names), 'Speechless’ is fluid and muscular, with wide dynamics and a dark and powerful dramatic weight. Across nine tracks, Resina's cello, voice and electronics are set alongside drummer Mateusz Rychlicki and the 23-piece 441 Hz choir.

Three years after his last studio album, Orson Hentschel returns with a multi-outputted visual album. Heavy Light, the title of his fourth album project, consists of three parts - a 3-channel film installation, a visual live-performance and the album itself. Hentschel expands the format of the conventional album to an audiovisual experience by merging elements of film, dance and music in a synthesis of arts. The project evolved in the time of Corona, which first affected him visually when the city (Berlin) turned into a ghost town during the first lockdown. Light became the most vibrant element in the city, which influenced both picture and sound. Metallic, sometimes harsh and electrifying, surroundings of the urban life are landscaped into eclectic pulses.

Together with the percussionist Samuli Kosminen, the founding members of múm, Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Smárason, returned to the UM:LAUT stage to once again perform a splendid live score to “Menschen am Sonntag”, a masterpiece of silent film.

Two years after the release of his acclaimed Erased Tapes debut, ‘The Transition’, Californian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David Allred returns with a solo piano perspective on the album, aptly titled Felt The Transition — out December 18.

"Felt The Transition is a new minimalist solo piano perspective on my experimental chamber folk album previously released in 2018, called The Transition. This music is reinterpreted on my 114 year old upright piano which was very kindly donated to me by my friend Adam Selzer who previously ran a recording studio in Portland called Type Foundry. This piano is very sentimental to me as it was used by a handful of my favorite musicians on their albums over the past 20 years, namely Peter Broderick’s ‘How They Are‘ and ‘Two Balloons’.” — David Allred
