बरसती बारिशों की धुन पे लम्हें गुनगुनाते हैं
वो बरबस याद आते हैं, बरस यूँ बीत जाते हैं

किसी गुमनाम बस्ती के किसी अनजान रस्ते पर
मिला वो अजनबी, तो क्यूँ लगा, जन्मों के नाते हैं

कहानी की किताबों में न ढूँढो प्यार का मतलब
ये इक सैलाब है, इसमें किनारे डूब जाते हैं

नई तहज़ीब है, बाज़ार खुलने पे ये तय होगा
किसे वो भूल जाते हैं, किसे अपना बनाते हैं

मुहब्बत एक धोखा है, उसे अब कौन समझाए
न क़समें हैं, न वादे हैं, न रिश्ते हैं, न नाते हैं

चलो ओढ़ू तुम्हारी याद की चुनरी 
सजूँ संवरूं ,
ज़रा मेंहदी लगा लूँ 
चलो कंगन पहन लूं 
और गालों पर कहीं 
काजल का छोटा सा 
तिल बना लूं 
चलो फिर रात आने को है 
झांकूं आईने में 
मुस्कुरा लूं 
जब आओ ख्वाब में तुम 
तुम्हें ढक लूँ 
मचलती ज़ुल्फ़ में 
तुमको छुपा लूं 
कर लूं कैद आँखों में 
तुम्हें तुम से चुरा लूं
