So excited to present the first single off my forthcoming EP "Astronomical". This tune Singularity features my good friend and guitar played Matt McLaren. A Singularity is best exemplified by a black hole. At the center of a black hole, space-time becomes a one-dimensional point which contains a huge mass. As a result, gravity become infinite and space-time curves infinitely, and the laws of physics as we know them cease to function.

Here is the first single off our forthcoming EP, "Far From Home". This one is a collaboration with our homie metasine. It's got a bouncy vibe that’s def a head-nodder.  The horns kick the tempo up a notch and make the whole thing a blast to listen to.

Memories fade, but never die. I love you, Blue Boy. 

This track, the third single off of our EP All Around, was written as a coping mechanism for the passing of Matty's best friend, and goodest boy, Blue. The song began as a sketch writing exercise that slowly morphed into one of the most emotional and poignant tracks we've ever written. Featuring haunting vocals from Matty himself cut together with vocal samples from Method Man and Billie Holiday the message became clear.

“Abracadabra Holmes” is a playful, bass-heavy anthem that blends glitch-hop, funky blues, and cinematic vocal samples into one hypnotic groove. It’s a left-field celebration of 808 Day, but instead of just pushing drum machines, Father Figure brings raw personality and Talladega swagger.

@fatherfiguretunes is the genre-blending project of Matt Weishaupt and Matt McLaren—two longtime collaborators from Albany, NY, who fuse Golden Era hip-hop, glitch-hop, jamtronica, and experimental bass into a unique sonic signature.

Formed as a solo project in 2017 and expanded into a duo in 2022, Father Figure channels the spirit of J Dilla, DJ Premier, and Pete Rock, filtered through the lens of modern electronic music. Their live sets blur the lines between DJ performance, live remixing, and full-band improvisation.

I am pleased to share the title track off my forthcoming EP "The Things You Do To Me". This project has been, quite literally, a labor of love. From the crate digging, the artwork done by my amazing girlfriend, Julia and releasing the title track (and her favorite song I've made) on my Moms birthday, it has been one of my favorite works to date. Father Figure is the genre-bending brainchild of producer/DJ/vocalist Matt Weishaupt (aka Matty Dubz), launched in 2017 and transformed into a formidable duo in 2022 with the addition of longtime live collaborator Matt McLaren. 

Based in Albany, NY, the duo draws deep from the soul of Golden Era NY hip-hop—think J Dilla, DJ Premier, Pete Rock—while branching into the lush textures of electronic music and the improvisational spirit of the jam scene. The result? A sonic experience that’s both nostalgic and boundary-pushing.
