We’ve got a special treat for you on this WUMP Wednesday, so shut out the noise of the world and press play. 

The fusion of @Pi-Wrecks & @RecycledFunk is a match made in electro-soul heaven, and despite the song title, the love for these musicians is burning HOT in our hearts. Recycled Funk’s iconic guitar licks and saxophone accents blend seamlessly with Pi Wrecks’ signature textures, resulting in a piece that tells a story of longing through sheaths of blue emotion. Time and time again, Pi Wrecks creates art that aims to convey a mood or emotion to foster human connection, focusing on the journey instead of “the big drop.” Combining this depth of emotion with the brilliant instrumentation of Recycled Funk, “Love Has Died” takes us inward and invites us to FEEL. Subtle progressions carry us into the different sections, layering instrumentation and crescendoing bass textures to sneakily get your whole body moving as the purposeful percussion hits home. When the instrument melodies temporarily dissolve into the background toward the end, we’re given an experimental climax of glitchy bassy goodness that’ll bring a smile to your face in cathartic release.

Bio:
The Father Figure project began began in 2017 as the solo project of DJ/Producer, Matt Weishaupt.  2022 saw the role of longtime live collaborator, Matt McLaren expand into the engineering and production space. The now DUO, isInfluenced by both Golden Era NY Hip-Hop producers, like J.Dilla, DJ Premier, Pete Rock and the electronic and jam scene. The sonic collage created by this duo run the gamut stylistically. 

They have performed at festivals that include; Elements Music and Arts Festival, Camp Bisco, Dreamscape, Fire Lights, Circus of Like, Karnival of the Arts, Big Dub, Homegrown, NY Harvest Fest, and many more. They have played support for artists like, Manic Focus, CloZee, Of The Trees, Tripp St. Michal Menert, SoDown, Bos, Maddy O'Neal, Marvel Years, Wax Future and Megan Hamilton to name a few.
