After his critically acclaimed debut album, Djrum and 2nd Drop are proud to present a limited edition 10” vinyl release of two amazing reworks. 

West London’s Onoe Caponoe is one of the most exciting MCs in the UK right now, having pinged up on 2nd Drop’s radar after dropping two blazing albums on Audio Doughnuts in the past couple of years. Djrum has been featuring Onoe’s Milkyway 1311 in his sets on a regular basis, and this naturally led to him taking the tools to it and giving it a tweak in wonderful Djrum style. It’s hip hop, but not as we know it, as Djrum installs a drum pattern that sounds like a cascading waterfall and his trademark use of strings which underpin Onoe’s funkadelic vocals perfectly. This is a great introduction to some forthcoming collaborations between these two on 2nd Drop. Watch this space!

Royce Wood Junior, known for his work with Jamie Woon and Stac among others, is an uber talented multi-instrumentalist and all round nice guy. The original has yet to be released (looking like 2014), so this version will only be available on vinyl for the foreseeable future. Djrum has transformed the track into a brooding masterpiece which emphasises the heartfelt lament of Royce’s vocal to maximum effect. A classic in the making.

Kicking off 2014, 2nd Drop present a killer remix 12” of one of the standout tracks from Djrum’s debut Seven Lies album, Dam. Offered the entire album, interestingly both remixers chose the same track! 

On the A-side, longtime friends of Djrum, Manchester’s Akkord, take the entire toolbox to work with their intense and detailed trademark darkside techno flex. Inspired by the original’s mid track tempo change, Akkord employ incremental galvanized drums and percussive scaffolding to build towards a killer pumping crescendo. 

On the flip we welcome Felix K, the head honcho of one of Berlin’s finest underground labels Hidden Hawaii, for his take on Dam. Felix’s reinterpretation floats majestically between hypnotic Berlin techno and super deep drum and bass ala Autonomic. Stunning.
