In the mid 80’s, Said was immersed in the London underground parties gaining firsthand experience of the scene.  Said went on to launch his Fatsouls Productions imprint in San Francisco in 1999.  His monthly Atmosfere events which features world-class artists helped revolutionized the San Francisco nightlife scene.  His extensive discography includes releases on his own Fatsouls Records, Wave Music, Ibadan Records and Chez Music to name a few.  Said’s contributions to music and art have earned him recognition worldwide.

Ron Trent - Ilé Rock

Roy Hargrove's Jazz Funk band RH Factor gave us a track that they were going to dispose off, but we liked the vibe and sentiment so much, we decided to flush it fully out.  Renee Neufville of Zhane (Hey Mr. DJ) plus Roy and a few other beautiful guests came through to make this a bonafide good time.  The breakdown is special because of the reprise where we brought back the original drums and Roy's flugelhorn solo is an ode to Freddie Hubbard.  Funmi Ononaiye is the funky worm at the end.  Universe > Universal!!

The first instalment of reissues from the exceptional House band Ten City.

Many of the early Ibadan releases consisted of edited versions of Ten City tracks by the usual suspects such as Jerome Sydenham and Joe Claussell. This series intends to showcase the Ten City trio in their purest form with the original tracks that made them successful.
'Only Time Will Tell', is a ballad to those microwave romances where it all seems too good to be true and nothing could go wrong. As we all know though, a doubled kick drum romance – no matter how many sumptuous organ melodies are layered over it – can potentially go wrong. That is, however, only something that time can tell.

Bringing a Motown vibe complete with humming background vocals emulating a bass line and finger snaps, give you the feeling, 'All Loved Up' could have debuted on the Ed Sullivan show. A thumping kick drum, layered break beats and phased stick drum fills whip you back into reality while the piano solo carries you away like calgon.
Marshall Jefferson influences come through in a big way on, 'Suspicious. His typical style of swing applied to the high-hats and "that" bass line sound that has become almost as well known as House itself.

A solid collection of Ten City tracks for those who like them just the way they were.

Jerome Sydenham shows his versatility yet again by delivering an uplifting full vocal mix, a raw and energetic vocal dub and last but not least a raw grinding dubstrumental. The result is a deep, well rounded and most satisfying 12" single in the true tradition of Ibadan Records.

IRC094 - Flora Cruz - Let the Sunshine Out (12") [Teaser]

Argy teams up with DJ Said and label boss Jerome Sydenham for his first solo 12" on Ibadan.

Fresh off the heals of the exceptional collaboration from Sandwell District man, Function, and Ibadan head honcho, Jerome Sydenham, the label turns its eyes right back to where the action is happening: the dance floor. Here to help keep the party going is Greece's quality House music ambassador, Argy.

When it comes to concocting hefty House beats, Argy is no slouch. On, 'Thick and Thin' he does just that, while wrapping them up in a blanket of comforting pads that will have you hugging yourself with closed eyes and swaying side to side.

Big bad Jerome and Argy close the 17-year gap of music experience they have to prove that age, wisdom, youth and beauty can all exists in Mogadishu, well at least at night. 'Mogadishu Nights' ads a bit of phase to the very New York style House drums, with tickling piano licks and big room strings.

San Francisco's DJ Said, embarks on this beat vessel with, 'Dope Track', a collaboration with Argy that keeps the title simple, but leaves the beat strenuously tugging at your waist. A tune instantly recognizable with its New Jersey stabs covered with grainy overtones, as gritty as the neighborhood of the youths who provide the vocal snippets.

Jerome and Argy revisit, 'Mogadishu Nights' with a chunkier version equipped with an array of percussion shakers, congas, stick and snare hits, all shuffling along down the road like a parade during Rio's Carnival. In order to let the beats come through the strings and pianos take five and let the drummer get some.
