How Luukorii creates his mixes...
"First, I create a new Folder with the name of that Podcast. Then, I listen, listen, listen to a lot of music over weeks (which I am doing all over the year anyway :D - Music is just the best recipe to express feelings and emotions).

While I am listening I am saving the tracks that I think fit the general mood that I want to express in that Podcast-Series. I repeat and repeat listening to the selected tracks, sometimes there are more tracks emerge out of nowhere and find their way into the named Folder... and then time after time I start deselecting tracks. At the end there are usually around 30-40 Tracks out of more than 100 Tracks left that I finally buy. (I am really happy that there are so many great artists out there that are eager to produce new stuff all the time). Finally, I can say that I understand every track like a piece of puzzle. Some pieces are immediately set while I was first listening to them. Other will find their gap :D"

"I really love the organic way of mixing. Trying to mix Tracks at least 1 minute into one and another creates in my opinion wonderful Flows that make a great journey so to say. And honestly it is one of the greatest feelings in mixing when one track ends at that point when the other track really starts kicking in. :)"

I think that the Downtempo Community ever since started to become more and more known amongst electronic-music-loving-people. Originally from Istanbul and currently based in Berlin, https://soundcloud.com/tugce-kurtis is a singer, producer and the founder of the Kybele project. Tuğçe started singing at age 6 and since then performed at many occasions in Turkey, Europe, the US, and Latin America. To this date, she has collaborated with Paraguayan musician and producer Santi on three albums: Ciclico (2014), Songs for Another Day (2015), and El Regreso del Gallito (2016). She has also released numerous singles: Istanbul'a (2017), Inochi (2017), Out of the Blue (2017), Donde Va (2016), Sevda Cicegi (2016) and Backflash (2015). These days, she is about to release her solo EP “Songs for my Grandmother” dedicated to the memory of her grandparents.

Founded in November 2016, her project https://soundcloud.com/kybelean puts an emphasis on the bounty and beauty of the creative works of women in music through weekly podcasts curated by women producers and DJs. In addition to bringing greater visibility to women producers and DJs from around the world, Kybele further promotes emerging and established artists of all backgrounds through the “Friends of Kybele” series. So far, Kybele has released a wide variety of music in great abundance (77 podcasts, 45 of which are by women producers/DJs and the debut EP of an emerging artist) and continues to develop opportunities for greater collaboration and broader inclusion of artists from around the world.

Through a sleepless tantrum of being lost in a place inside myself of wonder, mystery, and adrenaline; that was my state of mind a month before I realized I was actually going (last minute as always), as all my other priorities quickly seemed to dissolve and I focused purely on this set of music as a gift for my first burning man… performing this set which came together so suddenly and fluidly (rarely happens like that with me and took me back to more naive studio days) live with Robot Heart during the burning of the man shook me to the core with liberating inspiration and was such a unique and uplifting experience it feels like I almost betray the memory each time I try to explain it rashly. There really is nothing else in the world like the collective work ethic, art and communal push forward in Black Rock City during burning man. The coming together of people from all walks of life making art for the sake of art and sharing their crafts and visions openly empowering the strange and the fantastic into the norm and the very real. A phenomenon and celebration of human creativity and science throughout the extremities of nature and conservationism. None of these experiences or music would have come to fruition were it not for the patience and guidance of my close friends Gunita, Nikita, and Benjamin. Also, the accompanying musicians and my brothers who performed with me and took the music to the next level including the all mighty Tomas Barfod on drums and Jeppe Kjellberg on electric slide of WhoMadeWho and the very talented Alexey Etcheverry on violin.  Thank you to the entire Robot Heart crew for the mindblowing creative force they’ve put together in the desert and for inviting me to perform at such a remarkable, liberating and otherworldly moment during the Burn. Happy to share this set and memory and I hope you enjoy it.

The Austrian born, Berlin-based Luis Rosenberg has a refined taste for music that makes him truly un-prejudiced. He doesn’t discriminate in his choices - as long as it has groove, it will catch his ear. Luis tends to select tracks for his eclectic sets that are interchangeably timeless, unique and innovative

Luis Rosenberg joined us for Kantocast 007 and here are some questions he answered for us.

What pushed you towards DJing? 

I started to go out when I was about 15 years old. Very early on I was fascinated about DJing and vinyl in particular. I thought it was a really cool thing to play music hundreds of people would move to. And I was right, it's awesome :) 

Where did the inspiration come from? 

Hip-hop was the main source of influence in the beginning. I thought scratching was a fantastic way to create something completely new from existing sources. I have watched the scene from "La Haine" where DJ Cut Killer mixed "Sound of da Police" with Edith Piaf at least 1000 times. 

Do you think music interconnects with culture? 

Absolutely. The best example is what's currently happening with house music. As the world around us becomes more hectic, the music seems to slow down drastically.  

How does the environment you live in affect your music? 

Living in Berlin definitely influences the music I play. Not only because of all the great artists and bands here but also because of the people around me who seem to create or listen to music on a non-stop basis which constantly delivers new input for me. That's fantastic. 

Do you get inspired by any other form of arts? 

I've recently discovered painting for myself and became a big fan of classic and modern art. 

What makes a set a good set? 

For me, it’s all about diversity. If a set has no ups and downs, different moods or changing themes it’s nothing for me. I also like natural influences a lot. Everything around bongos, animal sounds, choirs, acoustic instruments etc. triggers my attention.  

You seem to have a wide range of sources. Is there any particular era or bands that influence you more? 

I love African, Indian, Turkish and South American things. Especially if they groove and are a little bit emotional.  

What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead? 

I usually plan ahead but in the end, the outcome is mostly totally different than I've initially planned it to be. 

What would you like to say about your podcast?

It was nice to record this set for Safak aka Oceanvs Orientalis because he actually played a vital role in bringing in the Turkish influence. I've tried to include that but everything turned out a bit differently of course.

Julian is a musical travel guide for adventurous journeys to far-off distant lands and places deep within. His passion is to explore how people around the globe build unique cultural identities to find meaning in being human. In music, we all come together and express our feelings in ways we can all understand. Julian combines different musical languages to express himself to create a world where people can get in touch with themselves and connect with others.

Currently he's working on his latest project „Abenteuer“ which is going to be an event series starting with it's first party on 3th of May in Halle. MONADA BRAHMA 012 | Julian Falk | The Land Before Time

Welcome to a little challenge I created for myself.

In the coming weeks and months, I am going to record a mix for every set of ten BPMs starting from the 70s and ending with the 120s.
The idea is to dig through my library, being a bit less focused on the novelty of the tracks that I otherwise might be, and play around with slow and fast.

The rules are simple:
- Pitch up or down, but stay within the set of ten. Meaning the tracks in the 70s mix, start originally with 7x, and nothing above the line of 80 is allowed in. (An exception for this specific episode: anything between 0 and 79.99 was allowed here)
- Only use what's already on the hard drive. No hunting for new music specifically for this.
- The mix should be at least one hour long.

So... 
We start on the low end, with what my guess is was the toughest of them all. I don't have much below 80 bpm, and somehow those tracks are often strange, glitchy, perhaps not meant for a dance floor or mixing but for individual listening.
It took effort, but in the end I think I got through it. And wow I love the energy of these sloth tracks, particularly in the second half of the mix.

I hope this little trip will be to your liking - see you soon(ish) for the 80s.

Düster, dunkel, nass und ungewiss.
Niol und Sel machen sich auf den Weg zu neuen Abenteuern. Es ist eine ungewöhnliche Zeit. Ständig begleitet von Unbehagen, Unsicherheit und Ungewissheit. In ihrer gewöhnlichen Umgebung können sie nicht bleiben. Sie müssen alles hinter sich lassen. «Wohin nur?», fragte Sel. «Folge mir, Sel. Wir müssen los. Unser Bauchgefühl sagt es uns. Darauf konnte ich mich immer verlassen!», antwortete Niol.
Ihre Familie, ihre Nächsten und ihre Kumpanen warnten sie vor dem Ungewissen. Es wäre viel zu gefährlich, glaubt lieber uns und bleibt hier. Seid vernünftig!
In den Wald. Eine andere Atmosphäre. Düster, kalt und nebelig. Was beeinflusst diese Empfindung?
Sie gehen raus aus ihrem Dorf. Einen düsteren Weg entlang. Steinig und steil. Schon immer wollten die Zwei dorthin. Sie haben es sich zuvor nie getraut, zu viel einreden lassen und nicht auf ihr Bauchgefühl gehört. Der Wegesrand ist zugewachsen. Birken, Eichen, Buchen und Fichten. Sie blicken zurück. Sowohl vor ihnen als auch hinter ihnen sehen sie nur Nebelschwaden. Sie wissen nicht wohin ihr Weg führt. Nur eins spüren sie ganz deutlich: Sie möchten weg. Weg von ihrer gewohnten Umgebung. Ihrem inneren Drang nach Veränderung nachgehen. Sie haben nicht viel dabei: Werkzeug, Schnur, Essen für einen Tag, einen Rucksack und ihre Klamotten, die sie jetzt gerade tragen. Der Himmel grummelt. Die Wolken ziehen zu und es wird dunkel. Es beginnt zu gewittern. Aus diesem Grund müssen Niol und Sel einen Unterschlupf finden oder sich selbst einen bauen. Sie sind schnell durchnässt. Egal unter welchen Baum sie sich stellen, sie werden von den schweren Regentropfen getroffen. Sie rennen weiter. Mit ihrem Gepäck und den mittlerweile schwer gewordenen Kleidern. Die Sicht wird immer schlechter. Wurzeln von grossen Bäumen ragen aus dem Boden. Der Boden ist nass und rutschig. Niol rennt voraus, da er sich auskennt. Er blickt hinter sich und sieht Sel in diesem Moment am Boden liegen. Schmerzverzerrt hebt sie sich ihren Fuss. Es wird immer dunkler. Sie müssen sich beeilen. Der Regen wird immer schlimmer, es bildet sich immer mehr Nebel und bald bricht die Nacht herein. Ihnen ist kalt und sie frieren. Sie müssen dringend eine Bleibe vor Einbruch der Dunkelheit finden. Sie müssen sich wärmen und Etwas essen. Seit Stunden sind sie im Regen unterwegs.
Ob sie rechtzeitig eine Höhle oder einen Jägerstand finden? Oder müssen sie doch selbst einen Unterstand im strömenden Regen bauen...

After watching a VHS from Elevator DJ Magazine in his late teens, mømø ditched his classical guitar lessons, checked out his bank account and got himself a pair of Technics, scratching away to soon become a background DJ in a rap crew.
After getting enchanted by his first club night in Frankfurt he found himself lost in the myths of electronic music, a spell yet to be broken.
As of late, mømø has been on a mission to find the fuse that ignites sound without borders, multiversing back and forth between analog and digital to burst free of genre limitations while maintaining a solid quality spectrum of sound that resonates within the ear, heart and brain alike, becoming an artist of the unexpected & the solid.

The video was recorded end of last year in Berlin.
