Portuguese techno master Lewis Fautzi returns home after a while with his trademark rugged and solid techno.

For this release he provides four cuts of heavily pressurized dj tools, starting with Total Absence, starting with a solid groove spiced with bass enforced frequencies, the intensity grows as the bars go by using additional percussive layers and electrified drones floating over the beat.

Paranoia comes next, clean and solid drums, elastic sequences and high pitched atmospheres collide in another mental workout.

On the B side, Ground State provides another interpretation, in a more shuffled approach in the rhythms, precisely distorted and with the aid of a bleepy detail that appears from beyond the spectrum.

Closing the Ep, Uncertainty is the most rugged exercise in this release, once again distortion is wisely used and the approach is more industrial than the previous cuts.

One more proof of the expertise of this fundamental producer in today’s serious techno scene.

Is it really into the unknown? Lewis Fautzi is once again with us, in his own imprint, and everytime he is around we feel deeply appreciated. It means that, although there's a guide line that immediately identifies his work as his, he also opens a little bit more to us. Every EP is like a step further into his own mind, a breach to the deepness of his intrusive thoughts and ideas. All the words would be useless if we tried to describe this one. The tracks are self explainable and were meticulously created as that is part of his trademark. And regarding the first question we can only answer yes, it is really into the unknown. Or at least into something of his we have never experienced before. And perhaps after listening to it we'll be able to know him and understand his work a little bit better than before.

This release he's been preparing for a while is another masterpiece that will echo in our minds for a long time. Through beatless pads or fierceful kicks, the precise cutting edge of his creations are a delight to our ears and makes us all embark in a journey with no limits or boundaries.

ROI is one of the most alert and creative minds in Spain, but also an insatiable producer if we talk about experimenting with the electronic music from all angles. This is attested to by his Fanzine project, which he co-directs with The Panic Room. And it is that, in this electronic principality where everything is governed by concepts such as purity, elegance and devotion to music, people like ROI are admired, capable of sacrificing his best years to contribute their grain of sand to the cause forming professionals.

As a DJ he manages without losing sight of his tendency to dance and reflection, to combine depending the moment a multitude of genres with coherence and enjoyment in equal parts until weaving together a story with a beginning, middle and end.

En La Pocilga sentí un calor incondicional por parte de un público entregado, cultivado en lo que escucha y crítico. De principio a fin, me fundí con el público en cada parámetro que movía o elemento que corregía y añadía. El ambiente cálido y sensible a cada track que ya es propio del asistente a la marca, hizo de mi set unos de los que más he disfrutado en cabinas. La sinergia fué absoluta desde el minuto 1. Me sentí arropado y empujado rápidamente, así como acompañado en los momentos más introspectivos de mi discurso musical. Consideré que era buen lugar y compañía para expresar una vertiente más profunda y pausada de mis sets, y acerté.

Knife presents Sunil Sharpe for the 200th podcast in our series.

Sunil Sharpe is one of Europe's most renowned and well-loved techno DJs. Gaining an enviable reputation for his DJing in the early '00s, he was soon inviten to play at Berlin's Tresor Club, marking the start of an intensive involvement in the techno scene. Sunil has played extensively
around Europe at the likes of Berghain, Fabric, Concrete, Sub Club, Glastonbury Festival and much more. He was also DJ of choice on the first two Karenn European tours, the last of which was marked by his now classic Boiler Room set in London.

Known primarily for his fast-moving, skillful style on the decks, Sunil's reputation as a producer of raw, individualistic techno, has grown in tandem with his reputation as a DJ. To date he has appeared on labels such as Works The Long Nights (aka Sheworks), Black Sun Records, Rave Or Die, Trensmat, Mord, Inner Surface Music, Violet Poison and many more. Sunil also recently setup
On The Hoof, a label dedicated specifically to his own productions and collaborations with friends.

Sunil makes up one half of Tinfoil alongside fellow Dublin-based producer DeFeKT. Initially forged as a studio partnership in 2014 (and more recently as a live show), the pair have since racked up an impressive catalogue of 12"s on their own self-titled label. Additionally, Sunil runs the wonderfully erratic Earwiggle imprint that has built a dedicated following, releasing new names and old heroes into the battlefield.

Sunil's application to techno and the scene in general, pushes far beyond the standard
DJ/producer mould. Enjoying a long stint in pirate radio from his early days of active DJing, Sunil joined national station RTÉ 2fm in 2007, where he has since offered up a monthly mix of new music. The show has also been characterized by in-depth interviews with the likes of Jeff Mills, Surgeon, Blawan and many others.

Sunil has also devised a new format for playing/reviewing new music in "The Quarterly Crate". Now in its third year, the hugely informative video series supplies a special insight into his most recent vinyl acquisitions.
