The following music is inspired by the short film RAGE, being created by a group of young filmmakers based in Pittsburgh, PA. Directed and co-written by synth artist Arcade High, RAGE is an action packed, 16-bit injected, 80s revenge tale. The story follows Kurt Niles, an every day guy living in the neon-lit Halogen City. After being left dead in the streets by a gang called The Dangers, Kurt returns from his asphalt grave and goes on a bloody rampage to save the girl he loves.

Inspired by early 90s arcade beat-em ups and action films of the 1980s, RAGE sets out to be a wild ride of blood, guts, and neon lights.

The Chase.

“Good Hair Day” is the first single from Simon Mavin, the Grammy nominated keyboardist/co-producer and co-writer of the celebrated Australian band Hiatus Kaiyote, Simon’s had a hand in multiple projects across the spectrum, but has yet to release under his own moniker until now. The track, kicks off with an infectious piano loop in which fellow collaborators Nick Lam and Henry Hicks added guitar parts and bass parts. What’s resulted is a danceable, infectious feel good dancefloor jam with an ultra funky synth bassline that harkens back to Herbie Hancock’s 1970’s repertoire.

One of Australia's most dynamic up & coming acts acts, The Goods have become vital members of Sydney's rising soul/electronic scene in just a few short years. With word spreading internationally and the band recently joining forces with Brooklyn-based label Bastard Jazz Recordings, The Goods are gearing up to release their hotly anticipated Make Your Move EP as they put the finishing touches on their debut album out later this year. 

Consisting of founding members Badmandela and Rosario, along with the more recent addition of vocalist Black Tree, The Goods first burst onto the scene in 2016 with the release of their self-titled double EP rooted in a steady stream of hip-hop, space funk, low slung house and soul. Recognised by outlets such as Complex, MTV, VICE and Indie Shuffle, The Goods have also been heralded for their smashing live sets, sharing stages with the likes of Oddisee and Onra, in addition to highlight performances at various music festivals. 

The Make Your Move EP documents The Goods' exploration into faster tempos and broken rhythms, and was created in a much more collaborative spirit than their previous work. With Black Tree now an official member, the trio has tapped back into their roots as improvising musicians, with experimentations and ideas developed during their live shows making their way back into the studio, and fine-tuned into the tracks on this new EP. 

Led by the bumping, soulful vibes of singles "Make Your Move" and "Glow", the new EP is an exciting taste of what's to come from The Goods in 2018.

I Can See, the second transmission from Harvey Sutherland’s upcoming 12”, increases the intensity from the broken beat cinemascope of first single Amethyst. Like its predecessor, it features Kahlil Memphis on drums. A fractured jungle excursion with moments of thundering energy and an undeniable UK spirit, the track's inspiration is rooted in a visceral hallucination; the feeling of climbing a never-ending staircase, each step drawing you closer to the light. I Can See draws to a close with the fitting together of a beautifully complex puzzle, before a cut to black.

Way back in the French Touch 2.0 MySpace days (yes, I'm going there), I was obsessed with a track called "Je Sens La Musique" by a producer called SAVOUREUX. The song was badly mixed and as far as I know the artist only had 2 other tracks and no Soundcloud page whatsoever. 

Yet, somehow that happy disco loop stuck with me to this very day and I always thought that someday I will (properly) rework that idea from scratch. And so I did. 

I was able to rip a rare mp3 of that song of MySpace and eventually found the original sample for the track, Sparque's "Music Turns Me On" (1980). I put together my own arrangement, programmed new drums and chords, had the bassline re-recorded by Ben and had Lukas add a Strings-section. Got it properly mixed and mastered, and et voilà here it is. Enjoy.
