when I first heard this track by the incredible Amaarae, I beforehand felt like I was at the edge of finally beginning my journey through music creation. But once I listened to this, I instantly felt drawn to creating what I felt would be my first musical entry into the world. After a few listens I quickly pushed myself to just throw ideas at the wall and go down their rabbit holes, and I began creating both vocal and violin melodies to lay over the work Amaarae had already wonderfully crafted. I wanted the song to become a duet, where you can distinctly feel both of our different energies colliding. I thought of adding my own verse as well, but I thought a violin arranged section instead could bring something to the song that the original didn’t have. After a few weeks I finished comping the vocals and released it. After a year, the song has garnered over a thousand streams, and over time this duet reminds me of the fact that I do have vocal skill and passion for music that is worth hearing. I hope listening to this awakens something all in you as well.
