Kur@ra – Funk 009 EP

For this release, Bass Militia goes far overseas, crossing borders and battle lines into Japanese and Singapore territory.

Hailing from Japan, Kur@ra delivers a two track EP that sounds like nothing we have deployed before. Funk 009 is a frontline rush of melody and rhythm, warping rave energy into something bright, surreal, and euphoric. The title track feels like living inside an NQ64 arcade cabinet at full volume. Punchy vocals collide with playful synth work, blurring the line between warehouse rave and late night gaming. It is high energy, colourful chaos, and it absolutely slaps.

The second original, Bass EQ, flips the switch completely. This one dives headfirst into darker terrain. Pumping breakbeats, turbo charged bass pressure, and a sharp acid edge combine into something raw and menacing. Retro bass music at its finest, but reinforced with modern firepower. This track feels like night time patrol mode, low light, high tension, serious weight.

Tokyo based Dotnoi steps in with a full throttle remix of Funk 009, slamming the gas pedal and steering it straight into speed garage territory. If you thought the original had vibes, consider this your reality check. We are climbing out of the trenches and heading straight to the beach, swapping grenades for cocktails. Sun soaked energy, battlefield swagger, and pure movement. Be warned, this one is dangerous fun.

Representing Singapore, Viticz brings his signature bass engineering to a heavy dubstep remix of Bass EQ. The basses sound like warping plastic under extreme pressure, twisted, elastic, and ridiculously clean. Honestly, how do you even make basses like this? Then the second drop hits and the switch up sends it over the edge. Heads bopping, windows down, speeding into the wind with sub pressure rattling your spine.

An incredible and diverse release from three artists operating in completely different zones, yet aligned in pure intent. Funk 009 proves once again that Bass Militia has no borders, no genre limits, and no intention of slowing down. This is global bass warfare, and we are just getting started.
