I think this comes from the general nightmare scenario of the surgeon-as-monster. Vividly brought to life in part 3 of the Doctor Who story The Deadly Assassin and in the character of Dr Benway from Naked Lunch. I've never had an operation, but I think I would be scared.

The swamp is a place to sit and contemplate things. Trees and insects are there to keep you company.  Don't stay there at night though because you might trip over a log and fall into some mud.

The song was originally written in the 90s but was re-recorded for the new album.

Sleep Tight: You can't live in the Fear of Muzak world forever. At some point, you have to stop playing the album and go back to your normal life. This imagines what it might be like to leave the world of musical intoxication for the everyday mundanity.

A brief description of the song:

Clothes are supposed to be dependable garments serving a multiple purposes such as keeping us warm, maybe making us look nice and evening holding small objects in a pocket. Sometimes these pieces of carefully shaped material go wrong. A hole may appear allowing a cold wind to blow in or they may break completely after an unplanned stretch causing an embarrassing scene.  This song tries to warn the user of what may happen with products such as trousers, socks and other items. The song essentially describes the type of problems that may ensue if a particular piece of clothing is worn for a long time.

The Fear of Muzak originate from the UK and were active in the early 1990s gigging mostly in London. More recently they have been recording new music which has been released on the Beauty and Disgust net label as an album entitled 'After Faze Hokum' on 5th December 2022.
