Lynda Dawn and XL Middleton collaborate on boogie 7" Roses for Extra Soul Perception. London soul singer Lynda Dawn returns with her first release since being tipped by The Guardian as one of their Ones To Watch in 2021.

Following her participation in the first ESP. writing camp in Nairobi 2019, ‘Roses’ was originally released on New Tangents...Vol. 1 EP alongside four other tracks with artists from the UK, Kenya and Uganda.

As part of the label’s commitment to international collaboration, Roses 7" brings two artists together for the first time, united by their love for boogie. To accompany the original, Lynda collaborated remotely with L.A. producer and record shop owner XL Middleton for an up-tempo fip, mixing g-funk and 90s RnB.

The Roses 7" is Extra Soul Perception’s second release of 2021, following on from Bad Medication, the debut album from former Electric Wire Hustle frontman Mara TK.

Following his return to solo work with last year's triumphantly dynamic 'No Two Blue Ticks' album – Royce Wood Junior now circles back with a new offering from those same album sessions. 

Not only was "Spit Up" originally intended for 'No Two Blue Ticks', but in fact the album title was even pulled from a line in the song's lyrics. Unfortunately, it wasn't finished in time to make the final tracklisting – but, thankfully, now it is.

@Nanna-b is a soulful songstress from Denmark des- tined to make a melodic mark on the music industry.
Melding an activist mindset and a golden voice into her textured and lush strain of neo-soul, Nanna.B is one of the most unique artists in modern R&B. On her 2 EP's Golden (2017), and Lapis (2018) Nanna.B moves fluidly between modes and genres, spinning organic, ethereal instrumentals into introspective feminist slow jams. Nan- na.B's eclectic sound and creative outlook has led her to make genre-defying music that includes elements of R&B, Soul, and Electronic. This musical mixture has captivated the likes of Ander- son .Paak, Anthony Valadez, Iman Omari, Mndsgn, Shafiq Husayn and the Boiler Room crew to name a few. Through her unique sound, she has been able to inspire the people who in-
spire her, an impressive feat for an up-and-coming artists.

On this 12 track journey I'm going through various experiences and moods that touches upon joy, creativity, depression, inner strength and power, love, separation and courage. Throughout the story i keep returning to myself as the answer to that longing for home. The album is produced almost entirely by friends and family that i have met on my travels to LA and finally both Iman Omari and Anderson .Paak helped me pick out and wrap up the songs for the final outcome. Working on each song opened up new relationships for me, and the only person on the album I never met and worked with in person is Astronote. I wanted to make an album that reflected my journey as a human and artist, the growing comfortable in my own skin, the discovery of my own power and strength, which i really found by moving out of my comfort zone in Denmark. Nanna.B has opened for Anderson .Paak on his Scandinavian tour run and been featured on Beats1. She released her first self-produced installment, the LAPIS EP, in May 2018 and Nan- na.B is now ready to release her full length album, SOLEN, produced by some of LA's most sought after producers, through German label Jakarta Records. Besides being a talented song- writer, producer and musician, Nanna.B is a trained visual artist directing everything from her cover art to videos, and for SOLEN she has created a detailed universe for each song that will be printed as a limited edition zine and exhibited at her release show.

Wax Poetics Presents "Tawk Takeout: Tawk Tomahawk Remixed" by Melbourne, Australia soul group Hiatus Kaiyote.


When Queen of Just About Everything, Ms. Erykah Badu, delivers knowledge, you open yourself to receive. Which is why when she devoted 140 characters or less to Australian band Hiatus Kaiyote—her exact words were "Okay. I'm done. In love,"—it confirmed our strong sense that these guys were exceptionally special.

In a country where balls-to-the-floor AC/DC rock boasts a much fuller history than soulfully futuristic stylings, this seven-piece from the east coast city of Melbourne is an anomaly. Hiatus Kaiyote’s uniqueness comes not only from their surroundings, but also their capacity for a sound rich in its understanding of soul, R&amp;B, and jazz.

Lead singer/songwriter Nai Palm was raised on the sincerity of artists like Wonder and Franklin, which she funnels into one of the most naturally arresting voices we’ve heard (check this <a href="http://youtu.be/FwLU_PXheuo" target="_blank">cover of "My Cherie Amor"</a> from her NYC debut over the weekend). Her current U.S. trip as ambassador for the band has gained Hiatus Kaiyote a luminary list of new fans and friends including the Roots, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Jean Grae, Pharoahe Monch, the Brainfeeder crew, and more.

Word of Hiatus Kaiyote has found its way to the U.K. as well. Right now the band is enjoying the attention of Gilles Peterson, who selected their self-released EP Tawk Tomahawk as his Album of the Week. The timing has worked well for us too, as Wax Poetics cordially presents the accompanying remix album, Tawk Takeout.

Twelve producers tackle Hiatus Kaiyote originals, grappling with the stems and unfolding them into various forms. Mark de Clive-Lowe contributes a wonderfully spirited version of "Malika," which sits beside interpretations by Shafiq Husayn, KCRW’s Anthony Valadez, and more.

Gavin was born in London, raised in Los Angeles, and now resides in Oakland California. With influences from his Uncle who was a DJ and at one point was signed to Jive Records, Gavin got his first introduction to music at around age 15 in 1992. First experimenting with music on a Casio Keyboard, he began to develop his own style of beat making alongside rapping and then later discovered his love for singing and composing in general.
	In recent years Gavin has been spearheading Featherload; which is a band of the Mind. That came from a dream, that influences him to create experimental genre-bending music drawing from Hip-hop, jazz, classical, funk, and cinematic scores.
