Ohm & Tm Shuffle - We Penetrate Them [MixCult Records] (CUT)

In 2045, researchers at MindTech discovered an anomaly in neural networks used for direct data transmission into the human brain. They called this phenomenon “Phantom Scripts” — mysterious glitches in the code that activate when a person falls asleep or closes their eyes. Deprived of visual stimuli, the brain becomes more receptive and starts responding to internal impulses from the neuro-interface, generating unexpected images and phrases, as if creating messages from the void.

Analysis revealed that these scripts are particularly active during deep sleep or meditation, when the mind is most vulnerable to external influence, as though an intelligent force is attempting to communicate through the subconscious. What lies behind these messages and why they appear remains unknown. Perhaps the answers are hidden in the darkness itself.

The fifth installment of Greyscale’s Exposure series, Refractive Index, continues the label’s focus on vinyl DJ culture with these four gems pressed onto Crystal Clear 180-gram wax. Featuring artists from around the world, this compilation blends dub techno foundations with playful rhythmic variations. Massimo Music opens the record with 'Poly Crystals', a dense, atmospheric cut driven by cascading chords that arc and shimmer over a powerful groove. An amazing track that shows the tracks don't need to be long to be as epic. Also, on Side-A, German producer Armin Bender lightens the mood with 'The Other Side'. This track’s crisp percussion and stuttering beats give it a restless energy. Bright and melodic, it carries a breezy, almost carefree vibe while maintaining just enough rhythmic complexity to avoid predictability. DJs seeking something both brisk and accessible will find it here. Flipping over, Australia’s Noosa Sound System brings 'Dub Move', merging house’s dancefloor functionality with classic dub aesthetics. The slamming beat and sharp percussive snap offer high energy, but the track still feels relaxed making it the perfect balance of the other tracks. Rounding things off, Divide & Elias. close with 'East Side'. Driven by a shuffling breakbeat that leans towards jungle without fully embracing it, the track has raw, street-level appeal. Fast-moving and assertive, it’s a fresh contrast to the previous deeper tracks. Refractive Index is another perfect addition to the Exposure series, engineered and compiled with vinyl DJs squarely in mind.

The compilation aims to tell a complete story through its tracklist, moving from ambient to deeper shades of techno, with interludes of classic club sounds. An unknown project opens the record with an intro that sets the overall mood of the release, before giving way to deep and rhythmic moments by artists such as Martinou and Ateq & Orion. Skyra from Tbilisi closes side B with the unmistakable sound of Georgia. The second part of the release shifts towards a darker, more hypnotic direction with two key figures of the Swiss scene, Ben Kaczor and Lb Honne. The final chapter of this story is entrusted to Hame and Soela, a perfect soundtrack to close in a special way.

Adhémar first solo release on Oslated drives us into the geological matter of the mountains. Composed of an ecosystem of the artist's own sounds, which unfold organically, “Mountain View” reveals the life of these alpine spaces. Between panoramic views, melting snow, birds chattering the pine trees and the rolling of stones, each detail places us in a different point of view.

On paths, valleys and ridges, a trail through the sounds and memories of the mountains.

Premiere: Will You - Tellisford Loop [Oleeva]

Not one, not two, not three, not four, our premiere for the day comes via the 11th album from a trio known as Elektro Guzzi. Based out of Vienna, the band has built an impressive catalog of instrument driven electronica that grabs your ear and doesn’t let go. For over a decade they’ve been honing the sound, and precision necessary to excel, rare is an electronic band like this, and rarer still a club forward one. 

Liquid Center, from cover to cover showcases the breadth of their productions, from thumping peak time techno, to moody downtempo. Hitting all the stops in between. Rhythmic percussion and warm bass lines provide the base for most of this release. Each track building and building, highlighting the slight variations that can only come from a human source. Such a treat.

Solar, appearing towards the end of the album, provides a slow, chugging, groovy vibe. Carried by crisp percussion, the track develops with a restrained attitude, element after element. Steady on, steady on. Nonchalantly swelling with melody in a few peak moments before dissolving gracefully into its base components.

Solar, and in turn Liquid Center will be released on October 24th.

The 147th edition of the long-running Mood Series introduces a fresh new name to its catalog: Marek Bartůněk, a Czech-born, Scotland-based musician, DJ, remixer and visual artist. His debut for the label, Images Without Meanings, is a five-track release that balances atmosphere, structure and mood.
The title track, 'Images Without Meanings', begins with an airy, dreamlike quality. Hovering chords and a firm beat create an organic, almost cinematic world. By the end, the echo blossoms until it feels like a fading memory. Its counterpart, 'Movies Without Sound', follows with metallic chords that bounce as if off unseen surfaces. It’s a track that thrives on layering. Deep, mid-tempo and brimming with a sense of quiet contentment. 'What Ifs Without Hopes' pushes things into darker, heavier territory. Anchored by the record’s boldest bassline, it builds with aquatic textures and cavernous resonance. The swirling chords and hypnotic groove add to the momentum. From there, 'About The Scene' (featuring Inzajeano) introduces a sharper focus. The track is addictive in its straightforward execution, where crisp echoes and detailed sound design fuse into something classy. Closing the release, Inzajeano’s Sound Remix of the opener adds a fresh, tech-driven dimension. It fades in slowly, unveiling a slick bassline and unique rhythmic shape. A worthy reinterpretation that underscores the project’s versatility.
Overall, Images Without Meanings is a striking release for Bartůněk on the Mood Series. It has a balance of introspection and finesse, proving he’s a talent to watch as both a producer and conceptual sound artist.
