Drumspyder weaves a web of percussive rhythm, melody, and line. Framedrums, tambourines, and  low whistles mingle with bass beats and ethereal atmospheres, bringing the Celtic and British Islands traditional music into vital contemporary expression.

Scott Sterling has always followed the path of rhythm. Over the course of a long journey through diverse forms of drumming and dance music: avant-garde circus, slinky bellydance troupes, and acclaimed bass-music productions, the one constant has been the beat of the drum. 

Over the past several years he has specialised in the realm of framedrums and tambourines. Influenced by modern framedrum masters such as Glen Velez and David Kuckhermann, but also inspired by the rhythms of the Irish bodhran, he follows a distinctive path through the world of contemporary percussion: fusing his experience with cross-cultural framedrum techniques and Arabic rhythms with a new-found love of Celtic dance music. 

To this rhythmic foundation he adds traditional melodies (played on low whistles and various keyboards) drawn from the folk music of Ireland, Scotland, and England , as well as the rich repertoire of Medieval and Renaissance music from the British Isles. 

Out of the alchemy of rhythm, melody, and his long experience in dance music production, he has forged a unique approach to Celtic and Medieval fusion, where elements of trance, bass-heavy electronica, and ethereal atmospheres mingle into an intoxicating brew. His overall ambition is to connect traditional rhythms and melodies with the contemporary dancefloor.

ANCESTREE draw from a deep well of spiritual inspiration creating natural sounds to move and heal soul body mind heart and Spirit. 
Ancestree released its first full-length album, “FREE YOURSELF” April, 21, 2010. The band has toured intensely throughout California and the Pacific Northwest from Seattle to San Diego, Las Vegas to Los Angeles winning over audiences across Washington, Oregon, Montana, Utah and Arizona. Ancestree recorded and released its second full-length album “SACRED BIRTH” in 2011. Both pressings have since sold out and are available online. On 12/29/12 the band released “EARTH REBEL” its third album featuring the tracks "Jah Warriors" and "Jah Meditation". Sharing the stage with Black Uhuru, The Wailers, Groundation, Don Carlos, B-Side Players, Bambu Station, Yellowman, Alika, and The Itals; Ancestree has performed alongside many regional and international artists. Performing at festivals including Mammoth Reggae Festival 2015, The 20th annual Austin Reggae Festival, The 17th Annual Monterey Bay Reggae Festival, the City of Trees Reggae Festival and the Whole Earth Festival. Ancestree continue to perform alongside world-class artists, writing, recording and refining their sound.

ANCESTREE is available to perform at festivals, venues, restaurants, weddings, private/corporate events and has supports various non-profit organizations at benefit concerts.

We're a multi-persona freak prog band based in Santa Cruz. We'll be using this site mostly for posting live recordings.
