This week we are back with a set by Herck recorded during ABC’s X-Mas special. Since we teamed up with the family for end of the month’s event, it felt like it was the right moment to share this masterpiece. Herck has been on our radar for a very long time, and we can’t lie this set was worth the waiting. 

The ABC-resident comes up strong with a forceful selection of tracks. Herck has a lot of experience moving crowds and you can hear it back in the depth of his set. The balance between weighty and reposed tracks is well perfectly executed. Enough said, enjoy!

Another release, another artist in our Kooky family. Minube is a DJ and producer from Moldovia, an artist that needs no introduction due to lots of exceptional releases on top interesting labels and hours spent spinning music on the best clubs of Moldovia and Serbia. Through this EP Minube takes us straight to the dance floor. 2 original tracks by the Moldovian are quite raw, yet very dynamic and well-crafted. The other tracks (collabos with Andrey Djackonda and Osvit) show slightly different shades of minimal, but are also intriguing in terms of sound design and structures. The EP is quite diverse musically and it's up to a DJ which track to spin in a club, but it's a definitely release not to be missed in the months to come and more.

This set was recorded live at Cloudscapes Stage in Soundscapes Zanzi 5. It is a set dedicated to the memory of my late father, with music selected from his record collection. 

As you hear this set its intended to give you a glimpse into my memories of my father, embodied through his musical collection. My father you'll see was a cheerful man, a musical man. He loved reggae, loved tabla, loved disco but mostly loved sharing all with us. A trait we tend forget these days, the gift of sharing music. 

The first track was my last memory of his, that even in sickness and the passing of a loved one, there is light.

Modula’s ninth offering, the “Baila Conmigo” EP, finds label cornerstone Cosmosolar steering the ship with assured confidence. This five-track collection is a vibrant conversation, beginning with its collaborative title piece crafted alongside Mexico’s Tierra de Ovnis (SXDNS295). The original version of “Baila Conmigo” is joined by a VIP reinterpretation and a separate rework from the talented Argentinian producer, Balam (SXDNS048). The EP’s scope broadens further with the inclusion of “Bengala,” a Cosmosolar solo piece that also receives a transformative treatment from V.C.I., ensuring a rich and varied listening journey from start to finish.

Within this context, “Bengala” emerges as a fierce and focused statement. The track immediately establishes a compelling groove, a Latin rhythmic foundation that feels both warm and propulsive. Cosmosolar weaves a tapestry of retro-futuristic elements, where shimmering synth melodies dance against a backdrop of unexpected, wild samples. This combination crafts a deeply atmospheric and almost visual experience, suggesting vast, otherworldly plains. The production is dense and immersive, building with a palpable energy that culminates in a release felt deeply in the body and the heart, fully embracing the dance floor while inviting personal introspection. It’s a powerful demonstration of the artist’s ability to channel a specific mood into a commanding rhythmic force.
