We got the opportunity to dig deep into the artist integrity and upbringing of Romania's Vern.

Q + A WITH @VERN-RO (JOULE, ROMANIA)

Q. What was underground club culture like for you growing up and what influences did you take from it and what's different from it now in 2020?
A. Hard question - I think every period has their beautiful parts. for example, I personally miss that sound, it wasn't sophisticated. On the other hand, I currently consider that the public is more selective. I am glad that many talented artists have appeared and that every day you can discover extraordinary pieces from people who are at the beginning of the road.

Q. What release describes your sound the most to you personally?
A. If we talked about another artist, Janeret - Tartouffe007, if we talk about my release, Levant EP.

Q. Do you have any guilty pleasures in your vinyl collection from when you were younger that you still listen to?
A. Yes, Depeche Mode - Songs of faith and devotion.

Q. Did your parents have any influence into the music you create today?
A. Not really, when I was little I heard more Romanian traditional music, that is not found in my sound.

Q. What is one thing you want to achieve in music that you haven't already?
A. In my sound I really want to bring more modular sounds in my tracks, maybe in the near future I can build a modular setup and hope after this pandemic episode ends, to play music more often at parties.

Q. Lastly, what are your hobbies when you're not writing music, listening to music, or DJing?
A. I quickly find activities depending on my condition. exercise, reading, a light movie, sleep and recently cooking.

Being recorded in one of the few open-air locations in Vienna (Himmel und Wasser)due to Covid19, the dynamics of the set bring a lighthearted yet peppy vibe to any environment you might find yourself in.

This month's Mindcast is being delivered by the founders of this label/community: Flav and Murgu. A special 2h back to back set!

Flav has been around music since young, but only decided to give it a go, about an year ago. Inspired by artists like Arapu and Raresh, Flav has made his way into underground music scene a more viable future option, after opened for artists like Sublee and Charlie, earlier this year.

Murgu has just started his way into electronic music, but looks like he's got what it takes when it comes about combining abstract sounds and modular vibes.

Both together are getting their listeners into a various feelings journey and you will definitely hear more from this duo very soon!

Mindcast 11 : Flav B2B Murgu

Love Manifesto, our 3rd vinyl only release, is Robert David's artistic expression, and an introspection in the meaning of Love. What is love in all it's forms, how we accept or deny it, how society can change the meaning of it and deform it. This is a very special project in which the artist crossed over the realms of sound by creating a painting that was done in parallel with the original tracks, absolutely with no intention of becoming the cover of the project. But somehow it fitted perfectly. With the Minimal and the Romanian sound being at the root of the project, the 2 remixes from Argenis Brito and Macarie, complete the picture and the trip in which we invite you to dive in and hopefully enjoy the "madness" of it, as we did.
