Deep in the musical underground of Scotland’s capital city, a DJ goes quietly about his business, building mixes of selected oddities discovered during explorations in the worlds of breaks, house, acid, dub and beats. From this collection of warped harmonies, something slowly grows…no-one is quite sure what, but what is certain is that it will infect all who listen. 

This mix starts with warped and wonky downtempo, twists its way through dark acidy electro and climaxes with bassy dnb-inspired breaks. 

HOWiE is half of Bound In Sound and a collector of broken beats and bass-heavy curiosities. He can be regularly located playing at Edinburgh’s Mash House and Pitt Market, or monthly on Cowbell Radio.

Bound In Sound is Edinburgh-based DJs, Chris Scott and Howie.
Joining forces in 2020 over a love of ALFOS and slo-mo beats, they have gone on to host radio shows on Graffiti Kings Radio, Vault Radio and have a monthly residency on Cowbell Radio's lazy Sunday.
As well as their own shows, they have provided guest mixes for Evil Plans, Deep Space Berlin, Rising Edge and Club Solo, and host regular parties at Edinburgh’s The Mash House, Pitt Market and Sketchy Beats Cafe.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future. One of the OG Defected House Masters, Dennis Ferrer’s relationship with the iconic London label is checkpointed by a vast number of innovative originals, guiding house through many eras from soul and gospel to Afro and techno. Now renowned as one of the instantly recognisable anthems of modern house and the Defected catalogue, ‘Hey Hey’ receives two Afro house remixes from Jack Back and Da Capo & Kitty Amor. One of electronic music’s most recognisable artists, David Guetta created the Jack Back alias to return to his house roots, releasing the chart-topping Defected hit ‘(It Happens) Sometimes’ in 2018. His remix of Dennis Ferrer’s classic has been widely teased in his sets, including a DJ Mag livestream which resulted in a tidal wave of fan support; now the French titan presents the hotly anticipated ‘Hey Hey’, complete with pitched percussion steering us towards moments of tension and smooth, deep release. Up next on the package, South African producer Da Capo joins forces with a pioneer of the burgeoning UK Afro house scene, Mahaba Music label boss Kitty Amor.
