While fans were undoubtedly wow’d by “Monte” and “Talk to Me,” Fehrplay’s new track, Indigo, keeps his momentum going and provides perpetual excitement. This hot slice keys in on Fehr’s iconic piano anthem sound and thick bass-lines, while divulging into a provocative breakdown accompanied with a cinematic synth melody.

Making a stunning label debut, Dutch producer Huminal delivers his two-track ‘Lucid’ EP on Purified Records. Crafting a majestic soundscape, the title track combines melodic and lofty synths with elements of trance and deep house to achieve a radiant and hybrid cut. Moving into ‘Flow’, Huminal devises a dreamy arrangement with undulating synth patterns, rhythmic percussion and delicate keys.

The ‘Lucid’ EP artwork hosts a photograph of corals, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Corals are essential marine invertebrates that form the backbone of coral reefs, supporting biodiversity by offering habitat and protection to marine species. They rely on a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic algae called zooxanthellae, which provide the energy necessary for coral growth and calcification. However, in Australia, the Crown of Thorns Starfish (Acanthaster planci) is causing severe damage to coral reefs by preying on the coral polyps, leading to widespread coral decline. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (@gbrmarinepark) is actively addressing this threat through science-based strategies, such as targeted starfish culling and coral restoration initiatives, to preserve reef health and resilience. The latest installment in Purified’s Fragments compilation series, ‘Fragments XXVI’, brings together three diverse and captivating tracks that showcase the label’s eclectic range. Kiholm’s ‘Wonder’ opens the release with a heady, anthemic feel, combining uplifting melodies with deep, driving rhythms to create an unforgettable peak-time anthem. Outbeat follows with ‘Sunny Breeze’, a groovy creation that channels a nostalgic 80s bass, layered with smooth, infectious hooks and twinkling soundscapes that transport listeners to a sun-drenched dancefloor. Closing the compilation is ANGL’s ‘Catarsi’, an intricate and hypnotic number that draws listeners in with its mesmerizing rhythms and evolving textures, offering a deep and intriguing experience. ‘Fragments XXVI’ perfectly balances energy, groove, and atmosphere while marking the final label release of 2024. 

The ‘Fragments XXVI’ artwork displays a serene photograph of a sea turtle, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Sea turtles, including species like the loggerhead, green, and leatherback, rely on specific beaches to nest, where females return to lay eggs in carefully dug sand nests. Once hatched, baby turtles instinctively move toward the brightest horizon, which would naturally be moonlight reflecting off the ocean. However, artificial light pollution from nearby developments can confuse hatchlings, leading them away from the sea and putting them at risk of dehydration, predation, or even traffic hazards. Protecting nesting sites from light pollution is essential to ensure the survival of these vulnerable hatchlings and maintain healthy sea turtle populations. Returning to Purified Records with his ‘Air’ EP, Chicago-based producer FJ9 delivers a dynamic three-track offering that showcases his versatility and depth. Having last appeared on the label with ‘Echoes of the Soul’ on Purified Fragments XVIII, he now presents ‘Air’, ‘Event Horizon’, and ‘Forever’ - three distinct yet complementary sonic journeys. 

The title track, ‘Air’, balances driving rhythms and rolling bass with a delicate piano melody that gradually morphs into sweeping, string-like synths, creating a danceable yet deeply introspective atmosphere. In contrast, ‘Event Horizon’ embraces a more intense, industrial edge, with a faster tempo and relentless energy that propels listeners into a hypnotic, high-voltage soundscape. Rounding out the EP, ‘Forever’ introduces a breakbeat-infused foundation, layered with an imposing top synth line melody that commands attention, adding another dimension to FJ9’s evolving sound.

The ‘Air’ EP artwork is a photograph of glacial ice taken by Jan Erik Waider at Breiðamerkurjökull, Iceland. A fine art photographer based in Hamburg, Germany, Jan is known for capturing abstract landscapes of the northern latitudes. With a focus on water, ice, and intricate natural patterns, his work reveals the beauty hidden in the subtle details of the world around us.

Air bubbles trapped in Vatnajökull’s glacial ice form as snow accumulates and compresses over time, sealing in tiny pockets of air. These bubbles act as time capsules, preserving ancient atmospheres and providing valuable insights into past climates and atmospheric composition. However, rising temperatures threaten not only Vatnajökull’s future but also the valuable glimpses into the past and crucial scientific insights preserved in its ice. The Child Of Lov is to release Give It To The People (DS082D) as the next single from his eponymous debut album, which was released to critical acclaim in May. The single will be available digitally from June 19th.
Gliding at suitably a laid back pace Give It To The People paints summer with a whole vibrant palette of colour, an ‘everything will be okay’ sentiment and breezy melodies. Watch the video HERE.
The video was produced by Pretty Bird and directed by Miriam Ella, whose career is fascinating journey from successful standup comedian, to Radio 4 presenter, conceptual artist and now with this release, video director. The video features Michael Fielding (The Mighty Boosh) and Jerry Anderson.
