I started the project about a year ago under the Name White Tusk. I used to be in a band called The Elephant Asylum and was kind of going off the back of that. T.E.A was the ultimate band to be in for me and so once it disbanded I wanted to do something of my own in the same vein. A kind of no rules music that sounds huge and epic, with a lot of passion and feel.

So here we are “Glacial Path” was born once I found a better name than White Tusk. As the project has developed I believe it has taken on its own unique form in that I have made it a concept project based on the birth and growth of our beloved Planet Earth.

I have become so fascinated with our home and feel I can bring to my listeners not just an epic musical journey but hopefully some fascinating facts and insight into the history of this glorious  planet.

As for me. I started my music life on the Drums and got into my first band at 16. It is still my main instrument today. I’ve been playing for 22 (ouch) years….sorry I can’t believe its been that long. I taught my self to start with then had some lessons from a 6th former at school for a couple of years. From then and till 1999 when I went to Drumtech and did a Diploma I was bashing away with out help. Since then I’ve been  on my own again mainly crafting my own style but soaking up ideas and inspiration from the likes of Nicko McBrain, Thomas Haake, Brann Dailor and Nicholas Barker along the way.

One day I had the great idea of buying a guitar and a little 10watt amp (that you will hear in the recordings) I taught myself guitar also and have never had  a lesson…yeah I know it shows LOL….Guitar wise my inspiration started out with Opeth> Then when I joined the band that became The Elephant Asylum they opened me up to a whole new way of playing. I got into bands like Cult Of Luna, Mastodon, Crowbar, Converge  and so on. I have to say, despite all those awesome bands I think my main inspiration for Glacial Path is still The Elephant Asylum and the main Guitarist from that band Leo Stuart
