Torn Skin

In the current period, the freshness of spring is now slowly receding and fully replaced by the passionate heat of the summer season. After the glorious revival of all the organisms of the warm time of the year, nature delights with its lush green and the scents of warm tree bark and flowering grasses.
@fred-czital from Prague (CZ)  has captured the story of this breathtakingly beautiful transition with his impressive mix. We are incredibly happy to welcome him for this fifth episode of our Seasonal Shift series. We couldn't have asked for anyone better for this!

Seasonal Shift 005 - Alfred Czital

Borderline first ventured out in the wild to play her live sets in the chaos of Bogotá as part of the experimental electronic band Felina Spank. No stranger to the Colombian electronic circuit she has appeared at clubs, galleries and festivals like Baum Fest, Calle 9 and Video Club.

One of the band’s first releases was for Drvg Cvlture's much respected label, New York Haunted. Other releases followed on Mosaique Records, Glauben, Black Leather and Broken Mind Recordings. 

Currently she’s working on sessions with a clear eclectic sense.

Nocturnal Emissions has been one of the best kept secrets of the industrial genre since the 1970s.
Led by Nigel Ayers, the band was one of the first to use tape cutting, avant-garde art, and underground video works to create a stage experience that was being cultivated by like-mindedartists like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire.
The band moved on to using samplers and electronic noise in their early 80's work, creating a twisted funk sound that would go on to influence everyone from Foetus to Negativland. They still utilized their former tricks, upping the ante with extremist performance art and more professional video displays. The group avoided signing to a major label, instead focusing on releasing their own music more effectively. They followed this path into the 90's when they started www.earthlydelights.co.uk, an incredibly detailed website that promotes their various ideologies (they are strongly against the British monarchy and believe that citizens should have unlimited access to space travel) and constant release schedule. The band has released countless tapes and CDs of their material, and continues to unleash their noise through their website.

Traumprinz/DJ Metatron - Dancing On A Fading Star

Rhythm Büro’s fourth release is a much anticipated EP from one of it's co-cofounders, Na Nich aka Alexander Pavlenko. Pavlenko has been making music for nearly 20 years, most notably under the alias Sunchase. With the latter project, he was known in the drum and bass world as something of a child prodigy, but more recently Pavlenko started applying his artistry towards soundscapes that can be filed into the techno category. In the last four years he’s been first and foremost involved with Rhythm Büro, a techno initiative, party series and label from Kiev, Ukraine, that has since become well-regarded among DJs and dancers internationally.

This EP marks Na Nich's first solo EP, following a track featured on Semantica Records’ anniversary compilation ‘Arquitectura del Sueño’, along with a few tracks appearing on Rhythm Büro’s previous VA releases. 

RB004 opens on the A1 with a track entitled ‘The Key’ which is one of the first tracks made by Na Nich. The listener is gently introduced to an ambient wonder wall before some percussive elements open up and synths set the mood: a transportive journey led by a kalimba-infused melody which swells with a certain ambiguity that seems to lend a shamanistic touch. A2’s ‘DVA’ is a more four-to-the-floor dubbed-out gentle fist pumper, with melting synth melodies and foggy layers backdropped by steady reaching high-hats and a consistently wise kick drum. A strong element of the psychedelic and inquisitive is much present.

The B side of the record is another part of the story: B1's ‘Log’ is an epic night-finisher dreamscape, a strong element of space seems to be the focus here as beats play less present in this foggy cinematic soundtrack to a film that has yet to be made. The remix version by Luigi Tozzi on B2 reminds us how deep this prolific Italian artist can take us down the rabbit hole. For fans of danceable, groove-centered and though provoking tunes to loose one's and find one's mind to.
