Bogota's Meridian Brothers return to Names You Can Trust with a brand-new double-sided single. Having made their mark on the local scene in Colombia for over a decade, the last few years have brought Eblis Álvarez and his strange brew of tropical rhythms, wonderfully outrageous electronic sounds and unique, playful vocal style into the consciousness of a world wide audience. Building on the success of their previous album 'Deseperanza' as well as the upcoming 'Salvadora Robot' (both out via Soundway Records),  Álvarez has concocted two new gems exclusively for this NYCT release.

Recorded inside Álvarez's Isaac Newton Studios, these quirky yet seductive experiments in cumbia are further proof that Meridian Brothers and their rare style are unmatched in the modern landscape. Lamento Calavera, a mostly instrumental, electronic beat and synthesizer infused study on cumbion (fast cumbia) builds at a frenetic pace until the choir (as done by Los Maravillosos) resets. El Faraón Miente, a jazzy mid-tempo cumbia, rides along effortlessly with its carousel-like melody and bubbling Peruvian-influenced guitar riffs. With a cover illustration by Álvarez himself, this is another automatic collector's piece from Meridian Brothers and Names You Can Trust.

Meridian Brothers - Lamento Calavera

rom the vibrant music scenes of Argentina and Montreal, Jaijiu and SIM join forces to release their highly anticipated single "AYOYE" on Terminal.

Jaijiu, the producer's favorite producer, hails from Argentina and the depths of Soundcloud. Influenced by the sounds of Argentine clubs, Jaijiu reimagines folklore with a powerful energy. His explorations of Latin American rhythms and percussion create baile-core tools that ignite dance floors and keep everyone moving. He has worked closely with colleagues in Buenos Aires to develop a new sound that is rapidly spreading across other hemispheres.

On the other hand, SIM pushes the limits of Sound System Music from Montreal, gaining worldwide recognition. Drawing inspiration from the Dub and Dancehall theories of legends like Lee 'Scratch' Perry and King Tubby, as well as the innovation of Techno pioneers like Plastikman and Jeff Mills, SIM delves into the interplay between space, body, and sound. Since his notable release 'Pu$$ycat' in 2018, SIM has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, expanding his work and reaching new heights.

Additionally, the release will feature an exclusive remix by Con Secuencias, a Mexico-born, Montreal-based sound artist known for his work on immersive platforms and his ability to blend pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican sounds with cumbia, tribal, UK Bass, and footwork. His remix brings an additional unique dimension to this release, offering hybrid tools for the dance floor.

"AYOYE" is a powerful fusion of cultural and musical influences. This Québécois word expresses both pain and astonishment, encapsulating the intensity and surprise of this new single.
