”Lies“ started with a very simple but catchy Juno 60 Arpeggio Bassline, which I created around 10 years ago.
 
I am an 80’s child and believe that in your early years, your subconscious mind stores a lot of first impressions and emotional moments. I listened to Roxy Music at my parents’ home when I was a kid, alongside all the great pop tracks from Icehouse to New Order, which were played on the radio.  
 
2020, when Covid started, I was locked in my studio on the island of Ibiza. I couldn’t see my little daughter, all my flights got cancelled and I had no idea when I would see her again. A few weeks later my beloved grandmother who supported me on my path with music since I was a kid passed away. I was swept up in a wave of heavy emotions and really down.
 
So, I decided to put all my emotions in the track I started so many years ago. I made a post on FB asking if anyone had any idea of a vocalist who could fit my expectations and I got introduced by my friend Luna Ibiza, to Steven Jones who was based in the UK.
 
I sent him ideas of the vocal I had in my mind. He liked it a lot and started recording and sent me the parts. Later on I got in touch with Depeche Mode’s Tour Drummer Christian Eigner, who I went to school with. He immediately liked the track and the idea, and recorded the drums for „Lies".  I added some guitars with Matthias Simoner and it took quite a while to finish the whole package.

Today, I can tell that going with the flow without any stress is the best way for producing music. Many people might be surprised as it’s (maybe) untypical for what I am known for, regarding my earlier productions like „Vamos" or "Soy Como Soy", which were heavily influenced by Afro Cuban music. I don’t want to be categorized. I want to create timeless, beautiful music with no borders. 

Music is a mission and not a competition.

Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! The kid is on the roll: Most recently, Lancelot’s „Mover“ EP on Waze & Odyssey's 'W&O Street Tracks' got the nod from acts like Bicep („impressive and addictive track“), Paul Woolford („Reminds me of Mood II Swing at their dubby best“) and Mr G. He was invited to play at Boiler Room London and toured across the UK, Europe, United States and Asia. 

His new EP for Toy Tonics is a bit different - a three track collection of dense, eccentric house music. Title track `7AM In The Afternoon’ is a journey paying homage to the witching hour. `Again & Again’ plays tug of war with bassline semitones while `Lorikeets` flutters with warm stereo delayed synths.  

Alongside his Toy Tonics release, this summer Lancelot will also be sharing new material and remixes on Freerange, Ninja Tune’s ´Counter` imprint and W&O Street Tracks.

The return of time travelling disco afficionados Space Echo is immanent, and their 3rd contribution to the Luv Shack catalogue is a very special one indeed. The three tracks on the 'Rare Function EP' are boasting with dusty 70s blues magic!

The first track 'Go Down' is somewhat more akin to earlier Space Echo tracks, with a disco loop that steadily builds in the background, funky house drumming and a big beefy bassline. However the gospel vocals and the evolving synth strings in the second break take ' Go Down' to another level of dancefloor goodness.

'Rare Function' sees Space Echo take a moody excursion into southern funk. With an insanely addictive rhodes hook, shimmering strings and a soothing vocal line that hits right in the guts, this piece is well suited to liven up any house set. 

The final track is called 'Rainbow Power' and its probably the most uncanny Space Echo track to date. Its a full on party rendition of a lesser known early 70s funk piece that just blasts off after being introduced to a fat acid line! 

The EP is a testament to the musical development of the Space Echo project and we're excited to hear what the future holds.

We couldn’t resist to release this soulful boogie disco house joint GOLDEN GIRLS from Tigerskin & Jack Jenson featuring vocals from south african rising star Lazarusman.

The both producers about their session: „We were looking  for inspiration by listening to various bassline stems freshly recorded the week before. And we checked the secret studio archive which includes the recordings of almost 30 years of Tigerskins work. Looking for hidden treasures in hundreds of recordings we stumbled across a simple and unreleased drum arrangement.

Just for fun we added one of our basslines to it and recorded a bunch of melodies with some of the old Moogs. You know you're working on 'one of those songs' when each member delivers exactly the ingredient that the others were thinking of when working on their part. When Lazarusman sent the vocals and as we listened the first time to the demo version of what would become ‚Golden Girls' we both looked at each other and agreed that this might be our best work so far.“

Man of many labels Marcel Vogel turns out some of his most impressive material on Intimate Friends, bringing other talents into the fold to share in his vision of soul, funk, disco and house how it should be done. Having released the Human Beings album last year, Vogel invites a stellar cast to come and remix several tracks with predictably fantastic results. NY*AK enlists the honey-coated Rhodes skills of Mark Hand on their version of "Human Being", and it's an absolute joy to listen to. Meanwhile SoulPhiction gets into an equally heart-warming groove when he tackles "Always Isn't Only". Soul Clap meanwhile bring a little more party functionality to "Moonchild" before Simba offers up a very different, low-slung and laid back version.

Across the street from where Trouw used to be, lies a nice little hotel. It was in the basement of this hotel, where a curious meeting happened. Something so coincidental and so unassumingly trivial, that even the slightest event of randomness could have prevented this from ever happening, yet it did happen and here we are. 
This curious meeting was the result of an open studio door of Nachtbraker, and the hint of disco coming out the door, where Dr. San Proper just happened to pass by in search of whatever it is he searches for at 10 am on a Tuesday. The good doctor decided to walk in, greeted Nachtbraker in his ordinary weird way and casually grabbed a microphone. Nachtbraker pressed record, Dr. Proper got his inner Mick Jagger on, and behold: Misses, madame, mademoiselle was born: an up-tempo disco groove with Nachtbraker’s touch of loose arrangement, and San Proper’s amazing vocals. We asked our good friends and great producer duo Session Victim to re-interpret M.m.m. and they gave it a great dreamy-but-groovy twist, adding pads and shufﬂing hi-hats. 
We had already heard Nachtbraker working on a deep house – meets – afro track a while back and he made 2 versions of this track to complement the EP. Hamdi is probably one of the most euphoric tracks in his discography to date, and it’s one you’re likely to hear a lot in the coming time. With the use of chopped vocals (we’ll let you ﬁgure out the source material) and a teasing build up, the track breaks down into a lovely chant, adding energy with every bar without ever coming close to being tacky or overproduced. The alternate version is an excursion into 808 booty territory, using different chops, alienating loops and yes, even a siren.

The “Under the Covers” EP is a collaborative project started by David Marston and Brigitte Zozula. During an impromptu rehearsal session, David and Brigitte decided to record reinterpretations of songs they had previously written and performed together. 
The material on the EP consists of a rework of “Pussy”, originally written by Marston and Nick Monaco, “Trust Me”, written and composed by Marston and Zozula, and lastly, a song inspired by an African Soul ballad. The music fuses elements of Disco, RnB, Reggae, Dub, Jazz, and Latin music
