Jatun Mama is a project of Jesús Atzil Bonilla, Kichwa musician and producer, based in Cotacachi, Imbabura, Ecuador. 
The ritual music of the ancestral peoples of Ecuador together with modern sonorities and electronic equipment build the musical proposal of Jatun Mama. 
In their staging they transmit the strength of the rituality and the Kichwa party, where the spectators can be part of a dance full of energy with rhythms and instruments of the Andean region.

Las Lindas Pobres is the project of Magui Dávila (aka Felisa) in which she navigates electronic music by assembling records as a fiction of the sound archive. Her work with music is a narrative that stems from the artistic practices of graphic and sound self-publishing: zines, records, tapes, books, vinyl, beautiful and humble editions, whether with abundant or limited resources, but always using what’s available. Her record bag brings sonic experiences with ambient, techno, industrial textures, cosmic techno, or broken rhythms, all in dubbing time. Tracks that need to be shared and unknown hits that flow through atmospheric electronics, electric noise, modern clicks, and rhythms meant to be embodied.

Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

We take off to continue our voyage joining the dots of The Continuum, and this was the time our mission gave in to the pull of a force that, since day one, has been beeping in our sonic radar and marked as a ‘not to miss’. We explore total outlandish territory here with a unique selector that challenges genres, labels, and preconceptions. We salute Josephine’ Soundscapes.

Josephine’ Soundscapes is the moniker of Jose Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture in Madrid. When it comes to music, he has been an active participant in shaping Madrid’s underground electronic music scene for over 20 years. Founder and collaborator of many musical and cultural projects over the years, his current ones include Campos de Marte, an expanded radio project dedicated to experimental music, and the curation of Temple, a series of listening sessions at Espacio Perpendicular.

And that would be an “official” glimpse at his resume. But the gravity magnet of Josephine’s musical choices gets out the personal in me.

And CHOICES here is the word. Because what makes Jose’s sound impossibly unique is his brave choices. Placing himself in the crossroads of experimental, ambient, avant-garde and electronics is not a chance. His landing space has enabled him to explore, what I believe, is his superpower: a keen eye for mega-bold selections. He embodies the concept of “the sound you didn’t know you needed” and does so to an extreme. I have never heard stylistic picks like his ones, but the resulting collage often conveys a similar something: anachronistic sounds that bring psychedelia of past times. A touch of absurdism. Contemporary WTF-ism. A mastery of the surreal. And, having been lucky enough to attend to a couple of his in-person rituals, his takes always blow minds, make audience connect with each other, smile in joyous disbelief, and ask “are we really listening to this, right now, and works so well?”. 

What we present today for the next chapter in The Continuum is the re-recording of his set for a dreamy event put together by Mostra and Introspective Electronics in London. A special selection focusing on women, as the event took place on the 8th of March. Get ready for a take on psychedelia like you have never heard before. And welcome to a musical world not bound by space or time, where anything and everything can fit, and where the master selector will pick the most unexpected. Welcome to Josephine’ Soundscapes.

Angel is an Argentina born, Madrid residing DJ. Their career as a musician began due to their yearning to inhabit dance spaces, and their desire to explore the diversity of sound within them. Infused with a mix of technicality and deep genre knowledge. Mixing together old-school acid, techno, house, electro, soft trance and progressive electronica with grace. They have found a home as a resident at the Madrid based collective Silencio Locx. They are committed to creating safer spaces for queer people with a focus on authenticity both in sound and community

This album is a work in progress made in the Electronic Music Production course at SAE Institute, thanks to the GENERADORA GRANT from the MIM Association (Women in the Electronic Industry) of Madrid and the Spotify EQUAL program. This specialized training grant seeks to empower emerging talent and consolidate the skills of those who are already part of the industry.
