Belgian techno stars Joyhauser take control of podcast episode 017 and being products of the 90’s trance and techno scene their productions and DJ sets are equally full of energy. Coupling pounding rhythms with big room soundscapes and decades of music history Joyhauser present a sound that speaks to what has gone before them while at the same time firmly looking to the horizon. 

Having blown up in the last few years Stijn and Joris are consistently attacking the various taste making charts the world over. A quick look at their discography will tell you all you need to know just why that is. The pair will be making their long awaited Scottish debut when they turn out at Terminal V Festival in October and there is no doubt in our mind that the pair will blow minds and melt hearts. We caught up with the deadly duo to pick their brain on their life in the fast lane and of course their music…

Today, we'd like to feature D'Jacque (@djacquemusic), a Berlin-based DJ flowing between Melodic Techno and Downtempo. His style either brings ethnic and tribal influences with tracks that bring passion and euphoric feelings, or hard hitting and sometimes aggressive beats that make your face scrunch up making you uncontrollably move. 

With this new spotlight, he tried to bring an old feeling of being in his favourite club spaces at 3am ending with a reminiscent feeling of what used to be, and what is soon to come back!

Exploration and experimentation have always been the driving force behind Hamburg based citizen Clap Codex. It therefore only makes sense that these traits would at some point lead him to the world of electronic music production. By exploring the anatomy of his musical preferences and capturing those emotions in his own productions he soon discovered the aesthetic principles of his trademark style; catchy melodies followed by epic breakdowns and powerful drops to generate that „bass-face“ moment in the club. Although it is no easy feat to pursue such a passion and work in the academic sector at the same time, the creative and cathartic facets of the techno culture perfectly serve as a counterweight to that struggle. So far, his tracks have received critical acclaim from acts such as Lane 8, Matchy, Miss Monique and many more. Clap Codex has already shown that handling academics and creativity simultaneously can not only work, but also fosters success, so let‘s see what the interaction of these two will bring us in the future...

There is no doubt, artists generate – especially in our scene - hypes occur again and again. Be it a good track or an unforgettable DJ-Set. However, these come and go as quickly as they have emerged. And there is also something happening in this scene, which is quite apparent: It happens relatively fast. In Germany, the motherland of the electronic music, an artist has seldom managed to infringe at the same time upon such widely spread generations and masses. It is not by coincidence, that ideas like „German Techno Master“ (DJ Mag) or countless first grade placings originate in the process of the scene votings. Meanwhile one can also hardly keep up counting his fanclubs, who welcome him with frenetic exultation spreading across the entire republic and far beyond.
