Pebbles On My Road


hey boys and girls ............... decided its about time to start uploading many of my hundreds of tracks that I have made over the last many years . these tracks are live and long and probably wont find the space on my current album " DEAF SAFARI "

This is Africa's Burning Man...the event is held in the Karoo desert, where about 10 000 people share a unique experience

Few words can explain the AfrikaBurn experience. I still need time to reflect on what just happened the past week and bring feelings to words...

A massive thanks to a great family of friends for such special moments... as well as Michael Kennedy and his team for a mammoth effort of bringing  "The Spirit Train " to life and trucking 5 coaches and a tractor through a tough terrain into the desert ! Well done guys, everyone appreciated the great line ups and no doubt was one of the most popular at Afrikaburn.

Inspired by natural rocks this opus is composed by Martin Van Rossum under his Martin Nonstatic moniker. 

A twelve-tracks album of smooth catchy drifts, hypnotic melodies and waves of subtle beats that contrast with lush soundscapes. 
Spiced-up blend of deep techno slash house, dub and downtempo, enhances clean-cut electronic rhythms and soothing rolling bass lines. 
Granite is Martin’s third album following releases on Bine Music and Silent Season and tracks on several compilations including Passages and the forthcoming Digiseeds by Ambientium.

04 Where Is My Ego? (Kid Francescoli Rework)

I made this music way back in 1995 when i was finishing high school .
My good friend Dean Henning . AKA = Captain Asthma  helped me with programming some of the beats as Dean was our main drummer in Both our high school bands "Incurable" and "Fingerhead" .
I had at this stage in my life a KORG X3 Workstation Keyboard ( Thanks to my dear parents and Babs Naidoo Music in Pietermaritzburg )

At this stage in my life i was obsessed with early 80s electro music ............. bands such as Grauzone , No more , D.A.F , Joachim whitt , O.M.D , Front 242 , Kraftwerk .................... this type thing .
Of course at this point in time in South Africa ( One year into our new Democracy ) Most people where not listening to this type music .
Dean and I attempted to Record a Second Unit album in Pietermaritzburg , in a studio with our friend Gavin .
The music was recorded straight from my Korg onto DAT tape and the vocals and bass guitar where recorded separately.
Unfortunately our DAT tape was corrupt and the recording was a disaster .
Somehow Dean came into possession of a recording made onto cassette tape ................... and this is the only recording of Second Unit in existence .
This music was very personal to me when i made it

It’s people like Mano Le Tough who make DJing into an art form, as you can tell from the mix he has done for us ahead of our festival in São Paolo this weekend. The connection he makes with dance floors are always as deep as can be; with a real sense of melody, emotion and song like structure, he crafts sets that make a lasting impact on those who hear them. This has resulted in him being one of the busiest DJs on the circuit, on a par with deep house heroes Ame and Dixon, who he plays with regularly. As a producer, his smooth and mellifluous sounds land on labels like Permanent Vacation and more recently Pampa, which is a perfect fit for his curious sense of melody.  

This week’s mix is an hour of deep house that rumbles through a humid jungle, zones you out with hypnotic vocal tracks and encourages you to day dream amongst distant pads. Even when things turn more towards a techno groove later on, you still remain deeply entrenched in the groove, marching on through to a trippy climax that gently stirs you out of your hypnosis with a real celestial charm.
