JVN, born and living in Kassel, belongs to a new generation of local techno artists representing the idea of modern, contemporary techno, in an area which is still deeply attached to the Stammheim era. Besides running several event formats successfully over the last years, his latest outcome is a series called obscene, which features advanced techno with a clear vision of sound and design. 
Striving for variability, JVN finds his taste in a broad spectrum of techno ranging from minimalistic groove driven material to a more hypnotizing approach as well as raw and pounding loop-techno.

Being in the scene for several years, he is resident at Dublin’s subject events series that are regularly taking place at the two best venues in town District 8 and Index.
When it comes to productions he is well known for his releases on labels like Fiedel’s Fiedeltwo or philippe petite's Knotweed Records.
His powerful yet hypnotic sound is characterized by groovy drum patterns and repetitive synth lines. Enjoy!

For the 31st edition of our podcast-series we are more than happy to welcome Nicolas Vogler.
Nicolas fascination for music stretches back far into his childhood. Inspired by the dirty rawness of old school techno and the hypnotic vibes of more contemporary tracks, Nicolas Vogler decided to pursue his newfound passion by DJing at small events in his hometown. Today, he is a producer, gaining renown through his own personal label NCLS as well as through recent releases on groove-focused techno labels such as Syxt Berlin, Drawner records, Malör Records, ESP Collective, Hemisferio Barcelona and Secession. Played by techno DJs worldwide, Nicolas’ tracks can be found in mixes by notable artists such as Setaoc Mass, Ben Sims, Arkan, Norman Nodge, Insolate, Temudo, and many others.

ADAPTER PODCAST 031 - KROPF & KRALLE

Berlin based and immersed into the queer techno scene for years, Radical Softness’s project name comes from the movement with the same name, which advocates the open disclosure of all forms of emotions, whether positive or negative. She is similarly activist and expresses it with her music. Her driving sets combine rhythmic tracks at high BPMs, uplifting, fast paced, tribal and raw punchy oldschool rhythms.

Safe to say this one has been worth the wait! Relentless Sydney digger @daniel-lupica uncovers some seriously next level 90s kwaito and mid-tempo house from South Africa for a summer time spread full of pure under the radar heat! 

Q. Hey Daniel, what inspiration did you draw upon when putting this mix together? Is there a sound, feeling, or time/place in dance music history that connects all the different elements in one way or another?

A. Kind of, but it wasn’t super intentional; obviously I’m into 90’s sounds (in particular South African Kwaito and House) so I wanted to share some of my favourite finds of this year and string them together in a cohesive mix, keeping a steady mid-tempo vibe, where everything sounds both similar and different the whole way through. Nothing groundbreaking, just trying to keep an emphasis on quality and not play too many jams I’ve heard before in other DJ’s mixes.

Q. Are there any records in the mix that are especially close to your heart, or new or old favourites that you’ve been keeping up your sleeve for the right moment?

A. There are a few! As a lot of the SA stuff is not easy to come by, it feels like it’s by chance (right place, right time) that I ended up with a couple, so pretty grateful to have some of my grails in hand, such as the “Shima - S'Phete Vibe” LP, the song “Dlayani” is in the mix but it’s packed full of heat. Another is the “Andile - Want Me (Viagra Mix)” (recently added to my YT) that is red hot fave at the moment.

Q. With so many great under-the-radar South African records in the mix, can we expect to hear a few of these popping up on your youtube channel in the months ahead? And what other rabbit holes have you been exploring for the channel of late?

A. Yes for sure! There’s 3 or 4 in there that I plan to throw onto my channel. But hopefully I don’t sit on them too long and miss the boat.

The other rabbit holes that I’m always exploring include 90’s Latin/Spanish/Brazillian Hip Hop and Hip-House, as well as Reggae and Dancehall covers of 90s RnB and pop songs. Always nice to throw something familiar yet different into the mix when playing in a bar or club.

The 7 Year Anniversary of Dame-Music continues! The Melting Point EP marks the fusion of three renowned producers including KiNK, Thomas P. Heckmann and Bloody Mary. It’s no secret that these three are acid lovers, and their combination on this release shows three different takes on the acid sound.
Both KiNK and Thomas P. Heckmann need no introduction. Bloody Mary has followed their music for many years and the Melting Point EP marks the coming together of Mary with two of her most respected acid producers, all on the one record. Dame-Music promises all three tracks will damage the dancefloor – each in their own way; just be sure to play them loud.
Over the past 7 years, Dame-Music has shaped its identity by continuously releasing a distinct blend of techno and house music. 2018 shows no signs of slowing down, stay tuned!

Berlin’s Monnom Black is back again with the King of The Sewers EP; four cuts of pulsating techno from two of electronic music’s most uncompromising young figures, DAX J & UVB. Already well-known for its more fundamentally rugged take on modern electronics, the label’s 19th release is another intense transmission deep from the underworld.

The menacing tone of the EP hides the friendship that’s developed between these adopted Berliners, two young men who met in the city and discovered a shared passion for raw analogue audio and electronic sounds that marry starkness with depth. Although they began DJing at the same warehouses since 2014, the duo have waited until the right moment to bring together their mutual love of unique mechanised noisescapes and the high-end production values they’ve developed over years of experience and experimentation. The King of The Sewers is that record, a gritty soundtrack inspired by forgotten lives beneath eastern-bloc cities.

For Monnom Black this latest release continues a run of unmistakable techno records that challenge the mainstream with a non-conformist philosophy. The label’s ethos is to push boundary-testing music by artists who are unafraid to explore a chaotic, divided world in the belief that distinctive music can still create moments of grace and community. This is music for the deepest, darkest parts of the night, breaking beyond the dancefloor and into the liminal spaces where analogue and digital, body and mind meet. The King of The Sewers EP represents another step forward in the development of a record label pressing at the borders of what contemporary techno can be.
