That's what was written on the signs of five Russian children protesting the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as they went to lay down flowers at the Ukrainian embassy in Russia — and immediately were arrested by the Russian police. What's unthinkable in my hometown Berlin, is just plain normal in Putin's Russian dictatorship.

Like so many people around the world, I was in shock when I heard about the war in Ukraine. So much love and so much good has already been erased from this earth. So many Russian lies and propaganda. So many children, men, and women dying. For what? The greed and ego of this little f****** Putin dickhead and his cronies? I'm afraid so. — I really was (and still am) in shock. I couldn't do anything but watch the news, watch Twitter, Reddit, YouTube from afar — for days. The sadness of all of this. All of this. It's just. I was in tears writing this. 

Creating this piece was what snapped me out of it. At least a bit. And against all the marketing strategy guides I read, I just need to release this now. To get it off my chest. I mean, let's be real, I can't do much. I can donate money. (I don't really have any...) But I can make music. And that's what I did to cope with this.

Maybe there are others out there who feel the same way and whom this might help. In one way or another.

This is the first single for my upcoming album 'Fragmente'. 'Berceuse Rework' is a peaceful reimagination of my track ‘Berceuse’ for string quartet and electronics. While staying true to the original melody, this rework shines a whole new light onto the quiet timbre of this gentle lullaby, featuring the wonderful 'mondëna quartet'.
 
The new album 'Fragmente' is my most ambitious release to date: 17 tracks, 51+ minutes of music. Recorded with lots of great musicians from Berlin and beyond. Stay tuned for many more releases in the coming months.

Berceuse Rework

This elegiac lament for string quartet re-imagines my 2019 synthesizer improvisation titled 'Humming Bird'. It is the latest single from my upcoming album 'Fragmente'. This piece refines the original's raw harmonic and melodic colours, filtering it through the idiom of early baroque music.

'Fragmente' takes a very personal and fragile look at all the little things that helped me come out of my corona-infused burnout/depression in 2021 — It’s about all these little moments that helped me get out of one of the darkest times in my life: Singing my little daughter to sleep or rescuing an old bee with her on the playground, taking a walk with my girlfriend, talking to a good friend or simply playing the cello or the piano for hours — every piece is dedicated to one of these moments.

This will be my most ambitious release to date: 17 tracks, and 51+ minutes of music. Recorded with lots of great musicians from Berlin and beyond.
