welcome. to fell!sonic 3. an "evil sega" theme to kick it off.
this au is, like, the underfell of sonic 3. every track should be replaced, and there may be extra if i think there should be.
this soundcloud will be formatted like any other undertale au, just... for sonic. genres and all, even if absolutely no one has done a "#angel island act 2".
this will be a mod of sonic 3 a.i.r., turned into its own thing... not quite soon, but (hopefully) not too far away.
for now, tho, just enjoy the soundtrack.

here's context for the characters and story.
sonic is a non-verbal hedgehog. he literally has no mouth. not like he needs it in a classic series anyways...
in his past 2 adventures (yes, 2. sonic 1 and cd were combined into one adventure), sonic had taken down a tyrant named Oxus Mandamus (the eggman of this au). from a long lineage of tyrants, oxus had used his mechanical genius to take over and enslave South Island, Eastside Island, using Little Planet as his throne. sonic destroyed his reign in South Island and Little Planet, then Eastside Island.
miles (genius teenager, does not go by tails) also took part in helping sonic reach the Mandamori. (maybe i'll expand on that after 3...)

months after, sonic inexplicably learns about this underground civilization, entrance located at a huge crater simply named The Infernum. this civilization closely protected a crystal located at the core of the earth, the Master Core.
in a somewhat clairvoyant way, he'd had a hunch that Oxus would take this chance to harness that power for himself. so, he locates the entrance and... yeah. fell!sonic 3 begins.

this is one of the only times the "eggman" figure, Oxus Mandamus, shows up physically to fight. as a last means of stalling for time, he comes out with his bare, cybernetic hands, and beats the shit out of, uh... sonic. alone. he's already knocked miles into the next zone.


it has come to my attention that this song, originally thought to be a remix of an original song by JoeNickROS in his rom hack, "Sonic 2: Return of Shadow", was actually a remix of a remix of the opening song from the anime "Mirai Nikki".
awkward.

i like this one a lot too. from sonic 2: return of shadow to ashuro or sparkster, it's a really good melting pot of inspirations.

outer mantle still. this uses drums from a song that's based off penumbra phantasm (sfihy) that i ended up not using, so the buildup isn't that prevalent. unless i get to remaking the new version already.

based off of Karl Brueggemann's Moon Factory Zone (Sonicesque: Flashfield)

this area concept has always been a little iffy to me because it turned into either a more intense lava reef or chaos ridge act 3 constantly in my head (can even be heard in the old version) due to the fact that it is another underground cavern, just closer to the core.
so it's got some iron, i suppose. i'll refine this a lot more when i come back to it with fervor.

wish i had one of those people in the comments here that would narrate dialogue based off their own interpretation of the song's meaning so i could steal ideas...

The natural iron is blended and overshadowed with crystals. Pressure has been exponential.

remix of my sonic 2 alternate hidden palace. not out of laziness, but just because i think it fits well.
im aware sonic 3 doesn't have a hidden palace specific track, but idrc... it's also very short. but i'll try to extend its level length in the game.

i imagine it looks almost exactly the same as the original sonic 3's hidden palace, just different colors and accessories. maybe triangles instead of rectangles, here and there...

From what I can recall, the surface world has been crying for help ever since that man has taken control of it.
The 'infinite' may restore the world to a better life. It may answer the prayers that have been sent out how long.
Or it will crush those prayers, and wipe out everything that deigned to live in some unfathomable decision.

See, I'm not willing to take that chance. To put my faith in something I can't comprehend, can't control. So, put simply...
I'm destroying both sides of this equation.
The world can heal itself, and it starts with getting rid of the principalities that plague it.
You're first, Oxus is next.

this was kinda hard to make bc i forgot i wanted a plot point like this until just a week ago and i hadn't quite thought out a full style for knuckles' themes in this ost unlike oxus' (drums).
so for the 2nd half of the song, i wanted it to hearken back to the boss theme and the oxus fight theme, just to give a sense of familiarity (and also 'cause i really like that pattern how does igor do it)

for the record, it's called that because if knuckles wins, he becomes the savior of a dying world; but if sonic wins, he becomes the savior of a 'waking' world. knuckles is ultimately not fit for this position at this point in time.

29. Savior of What World?

(The 'Dyna Spear' leaves him incapacitated. There may be no coming back from it.)

oxus deals a fatal blow on knuckles here if you played as sonic or tails.
probably important to note that no, knuckles was never working with oxus. he just wanted knux to kill you himself.

this is a relatively older song, so if you hear a certain thing it doesn't really mean anything i just thought it sounded cool in this. i like the song too much to rearrange it, anyways.
