One of the scenes to leave the greatest impression on my from the Lord of the Rings books was when Frodo finds Bilbo at the Hall of Fire--a large room in Elrond's house in Rivendell.  Here it seemed that songs, poems, and stories were told and sung in turn by residents and guest, with a great deal of encouragement.  One could fall asleep in the hall and let the songs weave with dreams and wake up to something entirely different.  I try to imagine what the music might sound like if I could perform a song or two and who might join me...
