As a kid growing up in the 70s & 80s, music was constantly being played on the stereo throughout our home . Coming from a family that loved to dance, the late 70s and the disco era gave just that, it was a fun time for family gatherings. I was a shy kid but by 1981 at just 11 years old I discovered popping and locking, I entered my first competition as a duo and we won 1st place. From that moment on dancing broke me out of my shell. In 1983 at 13, I discovered breakdancing and was immediately hooked. I joined a crew and became a part of the b-boy community. At the same time Djs were emerging everywhere. My uncle who live down our street started DJing and would teach me things like "beat match" and how to fade in and out songs, the basics all on vinyl. 
I was always fascinated by the DJ and his world, it looked so glamorous, but thought grabbing a piece of cardboard spinning on my back was easier and a less expensive hobby to get into. Years passed and by the mid 90s the House music scene grabbed ahold of me tightly along with some really fun day partys. It wasn't until I met my wife who is also a "Househead" she inspired me to get into DJing. She knew my back story being a b-boy and growing up around DJs. I have to say its been fun as well as therapeutic for my soul, and not to say better for my body not trying to spin on my back anymore at my age.
