I did not archive much of my music and now it is in formats that are deteriorating and obsolete. This piece was created sometime in late 1983. It is one of the few surviving pieces from my early audio experiments. 

This piece was created by using a "prepared" 4-track reel-to-reel to record the destruction of an autoharp using hammers, and an interview with my 7-year-old neighbor on separate tracks. The distortion was created by interfering with the normal operation of the speed regulators during the recording process, and then playing the recording at normal speed.

In the early 90's I began playing with extended vocal techniques, sampling pedals and an 8-track reel-to-reel.

This is one of the few surviving pieces I created using ProTools Free before Apple upgraded from OS9 to OSX. 
This piece was created as a test score for a piece of choreography. We ended up using something "less gritty". I remember at the time I worked on manipulating samples beyond recognition, not sure if this is one of them. Sorry that I can't credit all the sources. I believe in giving credit where credit is due, but time has faded my memory.

M A N O I S E C A - Pordeeyah

Commissioned by Aviva Geismar / Drastic Action to accompany the “Stepmother’s Freakout” section of her full-evening choreographic work titled “IT STARTS WITH AN EVIL STEPMOTHER”. (drasticaction.org)

I created this piece by mixing several tracks of looped rhythmic breathing, the sounds of a magnetic bar on guitar strings, and a sampled woman's laughter, to create an ominous soundscape.

Stepmother’s Freakout

Composed in 1992, this was my first attempt at composing music by manipulating notes on a page rather than manipulating sounds on tape. 
I started with 32 notes chosen randomly, then shaped them into a composition using Finale on a Mac Classic II controlling a Yamaha DX7 and a Roland W-30.
I found several versions of this piece with different instrumentation. I may upload some of the others. This one is the "simplest" version.

Under the name MANOISECA, I composed music and created sound scores to accompany my performance work. I was commissioned by several performing, dance and theater artists to create sound scores for their work. In my 20 year artistic career, I received support from the Brooklyn Arts Council, Meet The Composer, and The Jerome Foundation. My dance and theater work was supported by residencies at BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange and HERE Arts Center in NYC.
Recently I started archiving some of my work as I've transitioned careers from creating art to supporting artists. Unfortunately, much of my work was not properly archived and has not survived.
