Almost 3 years ago El Remolón and Brawlio met at a Fértil Discos party and there began a synergy that resulted in the already known song "Los Pájaros" and now in a joint EP of 4 songs that will be released in October and that gathers part of a forgotten Argentine popular songbook. Is called “Coplas para Amar o Morir” (coplas for love or die).

The songs speak of love, spite, betrayal and death in almost equal proportions. Faithful to the style of the members of the project, the versions preserve a gene of the original seed but both take the boldness to go beyond, changing some words that today sound outdated and print a modern audio and strong electronic imprint. At the same time they play with the genres incorporating original keys of traditional rhythms such as Chacarera, Huayno or Cumbia, all with strong Argentine roots.

The EP begins with "Muchas Estrellas", a reversion of "Contrapunto de Tonadas", originally compiled by folklorist Leda Valladares in 1991 in the Northwest of Argentina, where an original duel of copleros is transformed into an electronic and existential huayno. "Con su Permiso", the second track of the EP, is a kind of copy/paste of anonymous songs, where between afro rhythms and chacarera, it invites you to an intense and unbridled dance. It continues with a free version of ”Telesitx”, a traditional Argentinean folk song modifed by Jorge Cafrune and composed by Agustín Carabajal and Andrés Chazarreta, to the rhythm of an electronic chacarera. Guest pianist Natalia Schvartz softens the intensity of the lyrics with sweet black and white notes. To close, the song “Campo”, an unpublished sentimental version taking fragments of the Baguala de Seclantás compiled by Leda Valladares in the Documental Folklórico de Salta, almost without phonographic recordings, transports you to the Argentine countryside, referring to a wild journey in the middle of a romantic misunderstanding. Agus Ganem joins in on the Creole guitar and ronroco.

Their journey is exploration of sound and movement, driven by aesthetics of sound art, cinematic atmosphere, psychedelia and the gritty roots of blues and rock&roll.

In Sistema Organico, the Israelian duo Roman Galperin & Moses Chimen deliver a variety of sonic textures, from spacey feedback guitars through tasty analog synths, forest flutes, traditional percussion, shamanic vibes and more delights - all composed into musical moods to dive into.

The whole piece is inspired by the meditative depths of the natural world, a tribute to the forest, the jungle, the great rivers and thoughts about our relationship with them as human beings.

A work full of deep enigmatic voices from the profound world of the Universal soul, as the EP conception combines musical and spiritual ideas from South America and Eastern Europe, this supported by the unique voice of Maryna Rusia Shukiurava aka Shuma and the production talent of Ok Selekta, presenting here his first EP work ever showing an incredible talent for artistic conception and execution of a wonderful journey.

Apart from this, the EP also showcases the contributions of four other Ukrainian remixers, each adding their distinctive flair while remaining aligned with the album's enchanting journey. This collective effort creates a wholesome experience of medicinal tunes, catering not only to the dance floor but also to the soul.

El Remolón and Brawlio continue to advance material from their upcoming EP to be released in October, which gathers part of a forgotten Argentine popular songbook.

The second single, to be released on September 22nd, called "Con su permiso" is a mashup, a collection of anonymous coplas, like a cut and paste that Brawlio has been compiling in his personal notebook and El Remolón has added a powerful electronic base. There you can find popular songs compiled between Salta -Argentina- and Tarija -Bolivia- by Leda Valladares.



The track takes an electronic chacarera rhythm with afro percussion and techno synthesizers. It rescues the most tribal origin of the ternary rhythms taking you to a danceable trance.

About El Remolón
El Remolón is the alter ego of Andres Schteingart, an electronic music producer who experiments with Latin American rhythms such as cumbia, reggaeton and folklore and one of the pioneers of the movement called Cumbia Digital. El Remolón evolved by creating medium speed tracks with a slow but catchy sound. His forte has been mixing dub with digital hypnosis. As an artist of the Zizek team, he has released 9 records between albums and EPs and toured for almost 15 years, playing in clubs and festivals in more than 100 cities. He has collaborated with artists such as Pablo Lescano (Damas Gratis), Li Saumet (Bomba Estereo), Ale Sergi (Miranda!), Gotan Project and even Peruvian teenage youtube sensation Wendy Sulca. He currently runs Fertil Discos, a label oriented to spread and expand the frontiers of South American electronica with everything that encompasses and goes beyond the idea of organic electronica. His latest productions are "Asimétrico" and its remixed version and the more electronic EP Brisas.
About Brawlio
Brawlio is a queer artist, singer, DJ and producer from La Costa, Argentina. He experiments the electronic fusion of danceable and fokloric rhythms of the world. 
In his art converge records from different times and places where wild and ancestral songs resonate, but resignified from the experience of life in the cities, and the freshness of youth that is built with his feet in the sand and his gaze on the immensity of the sea... 
Through song, he invokes life experiences in the mountains, in the pampas, in the bush, on the beach, with a sensitivity that crosses the present space-time, creating shared imaginaries that bring us back to a different life. He has released songs with El Remolón and Barda.

 About Fértil Discos
 Fértil is an independent label founded in 2014, which brings together artists from the South American independent electronic scene. From the publication of albums, compilations and production of events, Fértil proposes to unite Latin American popular music and electronic music, in pursuit of rereading traditions and understanding the everyday life of the Latin being. Among its more than 30 titles, El Camino de Leda, a tribute to Leda Valladares, albums by Barda, Mente Orgánica (Colombia), Humano (Ecuador), Pol Nada or Jin Yerei and collaborations with artists such as Chancha Via Circuito, Uji and La Charo, among others, stand out. We celebrate two years of Shika Shika with the release of our third compilation: Eco. 

Eco sums up what Shika Shika is about - the global reverberations of styles, genres, traditions and sounds moving around the world and fusing to create inspiring new music. We call it music without borders and on Eco we present 11 tracks that are exactly that. 

The tracks we hand-picked for Eco draw inspiration from traditional rhythms, stories and melodies and fuse them with individual inspirations, sounds from nature and electronic music. This is exemplified on Di Laif’s anthemic opener “Paso Por el Fuego” or Guazú’s incredible “Pava de Monte” featuring Wenceslada. Some artists like Jin Jerei and Oxhalá take us on a journey deep into their roots while others like Didacte and O.R. create atmospheric textural, electronic-organic soundscapes. Ibu Selva’s “Chega de Esperar” is a rework of a Brazilian agrarian reform anthem while Klik & Frik offer up a beautiful edit of Hassan Ben Jaafar, a master of Moroccan Gnawa music. 

It is hard to believe it has been two years since Shika Shika was started as a platform to showcase some of the music we truly loved from the thriving community from Sao Paulo to Seoul. Two years of connections, exchanges, ideas, new sounds and, most of all, incredible support and feedback from the people who listen & buy this music all over the world. We started Shika Shika as a way to give exposure and support to this community, sharing 70% of all the profits with the artists directly, and are inspired to continue pushing the music we love.
