The Amsterdam based selector was on openings duty during our Light & Night event last June and makes her contribution to our podcast series with, how she describes, “a balance blend of high notes and deep bass, like a ying-yang, going from a day to night kind of vibe.” And that’s exactly what it is. Soothing harmonies and backbeat house rhythms creating an atmosphere where you want to drown yourself in. A touch of soulful deep house combined with afrobeat drums and melodies hits like chewing your favourite candy. It’s cheerful, uplifting and has playful twists of  Detroit house with UK rap, dancehall rhythms and bass grooves. This is one hits you in the feels!

The Berlin based artist Zips gets us stoked for the club season.  
His contribution to our mix series contains an hour filled with progressive cuts, bumpy and rolling basslines, entrancing harmonies and above all a very, very pleasant forward pushing drive. From start to end you’ll be taken into a locked groove that brings you right into rapture. It lets your mind taste from the intangible energy that vibrant club nights can have. The spiraling psychedelic sounds and acid rhythms in the background of the thrusting tracks create a feeling of dancing in the dark while a searchlight of a lighthouse is trying to catch a glimpse of dancers. There’s no escaping from moving and experiencing the joyful feelings a vibrating night can bring.

Hannover rooted and Mexico based @bennet_bb let us meet with his signature sound of house and provides a cheeky and fierce contribution to our podcast-series. He's part of DJ-collective Soft Spot. A group founded in 2019 by queers and FLINTA*s that seeks for queer- feminist politics on and off the dance floor.   

His mix contains an hour of delicate and seamless vinyl-only mixing in which he plays oldskool house and progressive rollers. Engulfing basslines, loopy drums and oscillator riffs are the main drive of the mix. As soon as the needle hits the record the pre-orgasmic intensity of his groove is already tangible and unconsciously soaks you into an uplifting energy. Combine that with goose-pimpled classic house vocals and before you know it you’re imagining being on a dance floor getting a glimpse of the meaning of togetherness. This mix breathes pleasure and triggers feelings of freedom. Enjoy a full circle moment.

Podcast 64 - Marie Montexier  

Cologne/Leipzig based dj and Paryìa label owner @mariemontexier treats us with a powerful prime time mix. This hour was recorded and played in the middle of the night at @pitchmusicandarts last March. It's a strongly percussive driven hour in which you’ll discover lots of different drum dynamics. Snares, breaks and toms keep on changing its pace, rhythms and tones while she’s maintaining a propelling, uplifting and energetic flow. Her love for late 90’s and early 00’s house cuts shines through in this mix. This combination results in a timeless dance tunnel with an unstoppable bounce that get’s you right into the pleasure zone!

Festimi Podcast 69 - Asphalt DJ

There's a significant chance you've come across the name Asphalt DJ, also known as Doron Retig, recently. The Berlin-based DJ and producer has been riding an unstoppable wave since the release of his first EP 'Now & Zen' in 2022, in collaboration with his close friend Gzardin. In less than a year, he has released music on Oddysee, Gestalt, Tofistock, One Eye Witness, and has upcoming releases scheduled on Glow Mid and Haŵs. 

He grew up being surrounded by psychedelic music stemming from the late 80’s and 90’s. Whether he found himself listening to rock, pop, experimental music, house, techno or 90's trance; the use of psychedelic sounds is prevelant in his musical journey, and its influence on Doron is evident in his productions and sets.

The mix is a one-hour-long locked groove, consisting of thumping and hypnotising bass lines, combined with uplifting melodies and deep strings that reach to your core. It allows you to soothe out while simultaneously keeping you in an unpropelled dance zone. It's a high-energy house train that smoothly rides through UK and US house, 90s Detroit influences, and some of his unreleased tracks that showcase his signature house sound, shaped by his roots. Podcast 70 - Kyra Khaldi 

During our In Light & Night edition last July, DJ and producer Kyra Khaldi made her debut at Festimi, playing during the early hours at The Courtyard and setting the tone perfectly for the day. 

Her contribution to our podcast series is a more peak-time and club-ready set. She delivers a cocktail of tripped-out energetic rhythms, combined with joyful 90s UK-inspired jams - the kind of jams infused with vocals that leave a rush of euphoria. The mix kicks off in an entrancing and rhythmical atmosphere. Proggy basslines and hallucinative quirky acid drive the 1.5-hour groove, soaking you into a deeper hypnotic territory. The flow she creates is organically growing, while constantly maintaining a pushing and adventurous intensity. It’s a sonic tapestry through house that bangs, spirals, and slaps, geared up with an old-school dose of fun. This one takes your spirit higher!

Amsterdam-based and Seoul-rooted DJ and producer Naone delivers us a liquid, lush and expansive groove full of trippy textures from the 90s, brimming with sparks of imagination. It's a mix that bewilders the mind as much as it moves the body. She blends cosmic, kaleidoscopic house and techno that take their time to melt into your consciousness. Combining this with fluttering percussion, punching acid, and wandering basslines, you find yourself in a perfectly orchestrated state of psychedelia. Her flow is deep yet rapturous, haunting yet sexy, euphoric yet introspective—a blend of energy that will leave you dancing somewhere lost between space and time. But fear not, Naone will guide you to your center self with this one!

We’ve mentioned it before, Jenst is somewhat akin to a professor when he’s behind the decks, pushing a unique sound and mixing skills that are exciting, fun and thrilling to experience. We asked him to play an extended set during our In Light & Night last September, and we loved how that turned out.   

We’ve decided to upload the recording of his 5-hour-long set at The Colorfloor, one of the longest sets played at Festimi till date. Whether you're reliving the moment or stepping in to his musical realms for the first time: enjoy!

Podcast 72 - Carlos Valdes  

Over the past few years, mixes from IsBurning head honcho and label boss, Carlos Valdes, have been a rare treat. Discovered amidst the vaults of his home recordings made during the lockdown, he felt it’s time to unveil this 180 minute hidden gem to the world.   

Somewhere within the first half-hour, a sonorous voice echoes the following message: 
“It’s not uncommon to idolise and idealise people whose work we admire. 
If I read a fantastic book, 
if I see a sculpture of delicate beauty, 
if I watch an actor or actress of amazing talent, 
if I read a scientific paper of extraordinary perception of originality,
it’s easy to admire the work and to imagine the person who could create such beauty. 
Who could act or write with such an extraordinary insight and sensitivity; 
that must be a good person.”    

Throughout the mix, Carlos leaves you pondering about many things, perhaps including the above. Who made this track? What is this sound? What is this feeling it evokes in me? Who is Carlos? How has his style evolved into its present form? Since 1999, Carlos has been showcasing his craft, and the seamless unfolding of this mix serves as a testament to his boundless taste and collection of music. "Wait, is that the voice of Lauryn Hill?" — only one way to find out.

When in need of a thumping house-driven set, @lola-edobor has got you covered. In our new Festimi podcast, she delivers a hour-long spell through bouncy and wobbling acid, full and warm bass-layered tracks, and lets her love for drums shine through. As said in her @3voor12 interview last February, she mostly likes to play lighter grooves, but loves to dip her toes into the dark as well. This hour is a good reflection of that, light-footed rhythms rotate with  deep and more obscure ones, while keeping hold of an accelerating and catching flow. A fun hour with the right amount of punch!

Lola: "Here is my set for Festimi, which I hold a lot of love for and has been supporting me since '23. I've put together a more housey set with the memories of playing their events in mind and combined it with tracks played during my opening set at Tilla Tec last week— moments very dear to me."

An artist that moves through many sounds with no bounds: Nathalie Seres painted the Courtyard in colours of house last May, and in the new Festimi Podcast, she explores light, airy, and entrancing percussive-driven sounds.   

The skilled turntablist smoothly uses these elements to build up the pace of the mix. The moment you think you have a sense of where she might go, a playful twist is thrown in your face and marks the starting point of UKG, UK-bass, and grimy-influenced sounds. Wobbly and swirling tracks follow, and while the tracks might feel heavier, the intensity of the mix breathes light into the body and space into the mind. A beautiful balance between emotive tracks that hit right in the right feels, urges you to zone out, and forces you to dance: an hour-long masterclass of mature, experienced, and playful mixing is what you're up for.

Festimi Podcast 78 - ADRIANA LUCID

A local on the rise, and raising the temperatures with her contribution to our podcast series. Lucía, aka ADRIANA LUCID, swayed our spirits during a set played before Apron Records labelhead Steven Julien at RadioRadio this year. Tougher Detroit slappin’ rhythms and thick melodies were at the center of her sound, mixed with a flair that created a flirtatious energy in the room. In this podcast, she’s doing no different, but does so with slow-jammed old-skool hip-hop, silky soft funk and R&B, a wink to Chicago house, and cheeky vocals that can make you feel aroused, having you fantasize about that person you'd like to spend some time with. A super smooth hour, perfect for a day like today: it's hot.

Lucía: “Festimi invited me to a no-rules, no-pressure musical podcast, saying, 'Just do what you love.' Inspired by a sweet, sexy, and funky daydream while listening to 'Scandalous' by Prince, I created this hour with my LUV S1GN series in mind, calling the mix: ‘Would U Let Me Dress U?’ With LUV S1GN, I’m curating the musical legacy of Prince in a playful, storytelling way by blending his work (including samples, covers, uncredited material, productions, collabs, etc.) with any other music that sets the tone for the story. I allow myself to play without rules and without the pressure of time.”

The talented local and gifted vinyl enthusiast is taking us through steppin’ and jackin’ USA house. Beautiful emotive and long-stretched tracks are mixed with acid and percussive tools, letting you delve deep into the feels of the Chicago house era. He’s got it, and for us, is one to watch.

Andy’s contribution to our podcast series finds itself within the realms of spirit, soul, and sixth senses. Andy: "When I think about Festimi, I think about fantastic music & dancing—dancing, dancing, more dancing. Percussive elements are my thing, and I introduce this podcast with a very percussive intro. Belarus-born, Warsaw-based DJ and producer Viikatory continues our podcast series with a sun-dappled mix that radiates the warmth of her summer memories. Known for releasing club-ready house cuts, explorations across breaks, and nods to Detroit- and early German-inspired electro, Viikatory takes a gentler turn here. Teasing with slapping, driving house at the start, her hour plus soon unfolds into the light and airier side of her collection, while maintaining the perfect pace that keeps on rolling—a mix to leave you with the ideal reminiscence of the golden days, while sparking wonder about those to come.
