Description: For this assignment I was absent upon group choosing, but was able to join a group later to create this piece. Incorporates some guitar, a beat, and a few background instruments to add to the vibe.

I wanted to start with my favorite instrument, the Piano. I played some notes, got some inspiration and a little melody came through. I feel it is rather melancholic, and honestly if a future assignment includes adding a second instrument, I am all in to add a Violin and make the Piano and Violin duo make a nice song together. #COM381soup

COM381soup - Assignment 1 - DOWN

For this version, I improved a few things. First, on the first version I was using one of the pre recorded MIDI tracks for Piano, which did not give a very natural piano sound. For this version I switched to the Grand Piano and it sounds so much more natural. I used an actual Piano to record this, and for some reason while recording some notes that I should not have pressed recorded and make a few bits of the song sound unnatural. For this version I went and fixed those bits so that it sounds better. Finally for the end of the song I slightly modified the ending so that it sounds a little softer and not too rushed.

I used a song I love called Nocturne by Paul Mauriat. However I gave it a dark twist. Imagine you are sleeping and are having a sweet dream, until you aren't. It becomes a Nightmare and you are jumping back and forth from dream to nightmare back to dream and so on.

Honestly I didn't know what to do witih this assignment, then this clip came to mind, and I edited it a bit.

Assignment6 Com381soup

For this Final assignment I did a one minute piece by first creating a steady Cumbia beat. To that I added some custom bass, synth, and electric guitar. I made a simple melody but combined the 3 instruments so that its clear that multiple performers can play this song. Additionally, it gives room for improvisation as for Cumbia, any instrument be it strings or winds sound good with the Cumbia beat. Allows for so much improv.
