A Commodore Amiga home computer - not much more did @vril_01 need to start shaping his own sound in the 90s. Exclusively for our mixtape series he resurrected his unreleased tapes from 1992 to 1999 and gave them a remastering to compile a one-of-a-kind podcast for us!!! 
This is the very first retrospective of his early productions, showcasing a voracious hunger for the perfect loop and an impressive skill across genre borders. Get ready for pure 90s sound!

Carlos Sanchez is a Brooklyn native whose early studies in music began in church at the age of six leading him to The High School of Music & Art, and then took him on tour with a popular gospel group while still in his teens. On that solid base of musical training, he’s built a successful career as a respected DJ/Producer/Songwriter/Vocalist and adjunct college professor among many other things.

From his first clubbing experiences in the early seventies until now, Carlos has found inspiration in the classics like Stevie Wonder as well as eclectic jazz sounds, the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith, Gil Scott Heron, George Duke, Herbie Hancock and Donald Byrd. “My first DJ influences came from Brooklyn mobile DJs (like Grand Master Flowers or DJ Maboya), and other club spinners including Tee Scott, Nicky Siano & Walter Gibbons.

Energy he has interpreted into his own diverse musical style that has earned him noteworthy residencies from his debut at Leviticus, NYC to his incredible sets at ANALOG BKNY and earlier at a popular weekly party RHYTHM, that was an ongoing event on Sunday night that ran for over four years. A respected retail veteran whose ear is equally legendary, Carlos is a versatile crowd-pleaser who is known for being capable of spinning in many different rooms and for any age group.

When not spinning in the club, you can catch Carlos in the studio where his keyboard and vocal arrangement skills are often employed by top artists, producers and on his own behalf, the Carlos Sanchez Movement. Beyond that, Professor Sanchez also spear- headed the first class at Pace University where he innovated the city’s only academic look/listen to this thing called house entitled: World Music/The Underground. Told through a structured curriculum that included field trips to clubs and welcomed in pioneering industry members to relate their tales . . . . . the story of house was brought to a new generation of dance music lovers.

Preparing to release Carlos Sanchez Movement IV EP entitled “GRACE” (Sacred Rhythm Music). A breezy and inspirational listen to a well-constructed mid-tempo dance vocals by Grammy Award winning and nominated artist, is destined to become another genre classic.

Carlos is also a published writer for www.stereotimes.com, an online high-end audiophile magazine, were he reviews high-end audio components as well as jazz and other eclectic musical styles for the audiophile enthusiast.
