ffirth - Purveyors of post-hardcore, noisy slacker shenanigans from Brisbane.
Kind of a smorgasbord of alternative and punk influences, the band is made up of two foreign transplants and one homegrown Aussie.  
 
Before coming to Australia in 2012, Roman (bass/vocals) played in two influential hardcore punk bands (Frenzied Kids,  Заряд Ненависти) that helped build the DIY punk scene in the city of Perm (Permcitypunk) in the frozen hinterlands of his native Russia.
 
Chris (guitar/vocals) hails from the US via Tokyo and London, where his band Yokozuna was heavily involved in the local DIY scene through the collective Rip This Joint!
 
Jim was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast, and was instrumental in helping the other two assimilate to the local culture – ie, going to the beach and/or drinking. 
 
The band started in Jim's garage (as these things do) when he invited Roman over for a jam session. With the arrival of Chris, things only got louder.
 
The band’s name derives from Ffirth Stubbins, an American doctor famous(?) for doing unusual experiments on himself in order to research yellow fever. Doing strange, and ultimately pointless, things in the name of making things better seemed oddly prescient to all involved, and so ffirth was born.
 
Over the last few years ffirth released two EPs, played a bunch of shows, graced the bill of all two SCHEMA Festivals and recorded a live session for "Right Here, Right Now" at 4zzz.
 
During 2020 the band managed to navigate lockdown and even composed and recorded new songs. The overall sound became darker, noisier but, at the same time, with a more pronounced melodic component.
