AVOTRE, the label dedicated to fresh and contemporary club sounds, is proud to present a new album from German Sidney Charles. Collecting together the Hamburg producer’s finest moments along with a selection of brand new tracks, the mix compilation takes in originals, remixes and collaborations with the likes of label boss Santé, Pan-Pot, Hot Since 82, Patrick Topping and many more.

In recent times, German DJ and producer Sidney Charles has become one of the most charted artists on RA thanks to his always killer and infectious tracks on labels like Hot Creations, House Gangster and Moda Black as well as AVOTRE. As well as that, he held down resident duties at Sankeys Ibiza in some style this summer and those peerless DJ experiences clearly inform his groovy, bass driven productions, as this compilation proves.

Entitled House Lessons, that’s just what the mix is, a 360 degree view of modern house music, from the bumpy, vibe setting opener to the bouncy, shuffling garage inflections of ‘Drama’ via the jacking Darius Syrossian remix of ‘Housin Tha Rave.’ Mixed perfectly tightly and always following an increasingly energetic narrative arc, the mix then takes in full on retro rave stabs, slick and sliding tech house from masters of the form Luna City Express and then dips into deeper, more bubbling and New York influenced house music.

Midway through the mix and fully settled into an inviting groove, unhinged and playful originals like ‘Nuts,’ ‘Psyjack’ and ‘Horny’ sandwich raw, though tech from Patrick Topping and face melting bangers from Pan Pot as remixed by Sidney himself. The latter half of the mix keeps up the pressure and features shadowy, no nonsense collaborative tracks by Sante and Sidney as well as dynamic and techno leaning solo gems like ‘Silky Thread’ and the whacked out post-dubstep rhythms of closer ’Disco Nap’.

This mix not only proves Sidney to be a fine DJ who can really tell a story, but it also showcases the breadth and quality of his fine discography to date.

Rising from humble beginnings like Icarus heading towards the skies, Singularity plots its course for the stratosphere as it heads ever onwards and upwards…but unlike Icarus this is a tempered and restrained ascent not an easy task to pull off but one that makes the impact so much stronger for it's subtle, ever evolving simplicity. 

With a melody that comes on like a half-remembered memory and lingers long after the sound itself fades away, Singularity stays with you, slowly and carefully weaving its way around you while its drums beat a steady, forceful pulse and its percussion jumps in and out like Billy Pilgrim skipping thru time. The combined effect is something much more than the sum of its parts. Somehow this simple techno tune creates an entire world of its own and asks you to inhabit it for a while, losing yourself in the process..

On the flip side, Monoloc exercises an equal and proportional restraint in his take on things. Like a voice emerging from a faded dream, the melody peeks out behind a curtain of reverb and industrial drums compellingly foreshadowing its full potential. Growing from there, the atmosphere slowly engulfs the listener until finally the slow build up reaches its full force providing a fantastic re-imagining of the original with an almost romantic yet no less powerful conclusion.

Dense & Pika’s latest Drumcode release comes in the shape of a heavy four track EP, ‘Calf EP’. The four tracks showcase Dense & Pika’s signature industrial and dynamic style, each track bringing its own unique sound to the release whilst being unified by the sledgehammer intensity throughout. The release is laden with sporadic vocals, clanking samples and serious kick drums throughout - another heavy hitting, ear whipping release from Dense & Pika.

The duo make their debut to Drumcode Limited with a heavy, two track release. The EP showcases a mix of their talents and influences to create a moody, dark techno groove. The atmospheric EP is enriched with gritty reverbs and a deep kick drum and the slow, deep crescendos in each track create an intense sound. Mullaert and Siech prove themselves again with a powerful offering to Drumcode Limited.

Over a year since the release of his acclaimed, self titled debut album, and following a series of remixes from the likes of Gerd Janson, Shan and Audion, Ghost Culture returns to Phantasy with ‘Safe/Multiply’, an unashamedly club-rooted double single. Both tracks find Ghost Culture’s expert electronic manipulation in more direct mode, recalling the tension and euphoria of early experiments ‘Red Smoke’, ‘Half Open’ and Understand.

‘Multiply’ creates a stunning build and release, conjuring an atmosphere that is easy to get lost in. An occasional spoken word interjection of the track’s telling title guides a delicate but powerful mix of punching drums amid a wilfully psychedelic escalation of synths. It’s a welcome return from Ghost Culture while he develops the sound of his new album – stay tuned for more news on that, coming soon.

He began to walk upon the tightrope which was suspended delicately between the two skyscrapers. Down on the ground below the people looked like tiny ants, a small world far, far away. His balancing act was intricate and neat. It was a case of precision, to thread the needle was no easy feat, a performance which was a lifetimes work. 

James Welsh is perhaps better known under his former alias as Kamera. The producer has formed a close relationship with the Phantasy record label run by Erolk Alkan. He returns with a new two track EP which is set for release on the 21st of July later this month.
