Nolan The Ninja has made a name from himself in Detroit, distinguishing himself among some of hip-hop's greatest artists in the area. His delivery is reminiscent of 90s MCs, crafting intricate patterns and clever rhymes. Today he announced his upcoming album with DeadEndHipHop and a new single, Oranges (feat. Jaye Prime).

Traditionally, Nolan has been associated with a frenetic energy, his songs overflowing with syllables and style. Now, having matured as an artist, Nolan's new album, SPORTEE, demonstrates his growth in approach. Inspired by a lo-fi renaissance, producer 5YNOT and Nolan The Ninja created the new album with a minimal setup, emphasizing creativity and passion. 

The album looks at hip-hop from the eyes of a competitor, Nolan a gladiator in the sport of rhyming. Drawing from personal experiences, the MC finds ways to inject humor into the relentless bars. The new album, SPORTEE, is available everywhere on Mello Music Group April 19th.

The REVISIT Soundtrack was initiated by Markus Oberndorfer as part of his media art project REVISITED which features 360° video, media installation, photography, collage, and an artist book. Six befriended musicians were invited to provide three tracks each and given the assignment to send contributions representing their interpretations of the 360° videos recorded of the Sunset Strip in 2016 as part of REVISITED.

REVISIT OST is part of the installations virtual experience in form of radio broadcasts and subject of digital release and three limited physical releases on split 12“ vinyl. The vinyl is available in two versions à 150 copies: 1. Rhythm-Section (sound) and Rhythm- & Sequence-Frame-Section (sound & visual concept).

This album is really a nod to all my ghees that can't go anywhere without a marker, and can't help but get paint on they hands. My best embodiment of the eras of graffiti I am most familiar with cause thats what I was seeing. Something about late 90s early 2000s graffiti the rawness the repetition of it reminds me of so many aspects of my youth its almost inescapable. Everything about that inspired this, enjoy.

Charles Bukowski and Raymond Carver were two best known for taking the quotidian and presenting it so accurately and so simply that it was profound. Enter Chris Orrick.

The Liquor Store Hustle is hard to take too serious with its kazoo and slide whistle tones, but like Balzac, Orrick describes the contemporary Detroit work-a-day, drink-all-night, order pizza, and watch tv lifestyle. It’s an ode, a lyric poem, an anthem to the short distance drunk drive for more booze. It’s internal dialogues, microwave pizza rolls, pawn stars, and private competitions against the five oh. Produced by Man@Work, Chris Orrick’s newest single doesn’t take defining a 30-year-old success too seriously but maybe it hits the nail on the head a little closer than you might imagine. Run the rum, rum the booze- this is the Liquor Store Hustle.
