Indonesia’s The Trees and the Wild have a sound that can tie your brain up in knots while you try to classify it, but it will always sooth your ears and lift your spirit. Frontman Remedy Waloni once described his band as “somber tropical”. The music is really more ethereal than somber. The tropical feeling is definitely there, but, again, it’s hard to pin down. Maybe it’s in the gentleness of their melodies. Their dreamy moments are soft and caressing like warm air and warm water and there’s more to them than their name that seems close to nature. There’s also the complex and organic texture in their music and the patience that reveals itself in each song.

Explosions In The Sky - The Only Moment We Were Alone

Formed in 2002 in Jakarta, White Shoes and The Couples Company blend 1960’s Burt Bacharach-inspired  melodies with winsome indie pop to create a truly unique sound that bring us back to the 1970’s or even to the 1930’s, with charming, distinct melodies and orchestration. While their muses come from blasts from the pasts, their sound is original, fresh and fun. Their story and whole aesthetic is so endearing that it shines through in their music. Singing in both English and Indonesian, this sextet makes pop songs that you'd be excused for thinking had come straight off the soundtrack of Katamari Damacy, or a tender Sonny Chiba movie. But while the Indonesian lyrics of most White Shoes songs may limit comprehension, the band’s effervescent music is crafty in its simplicity and has universal appeal. Hooky, catchy pop on the surface, White Shoes’ songs also incorporate tricky time signatures, swinging solo breaks, lush orchestrations, vintage keyboard tones, for a breathtaking live performance.

Tenderfist is an electronic pop band from Kuala Lumpur. They write and perform intimate songs of living, heartbreaks, dancing and things in between. This Kuala Lumpur based musical ensemble began in 2008 when a group of music lovers with their "toy instruments in the attic" aesthetics started making pop music for their own pleasure. Their music can be described as a joyous collision of pop and electronics. Something you'd play when you are on your way to a club or a party or when you are at home, alone on a Friday night.

Tenderfist - This Wasted Heart

L’alphalpha is a band from Jakarta, Indonesia, formed in 2006. The band consists of Herald Reynaldo (vocals,guitars) , Yudishtira Mahendra (Bass, various toys) , Tercitra Winitya (Vocals, Guitars, Synthesizer) , Ildo Reynardian (Drums,Guitar) , Byatriasa Ega (Vocals,Piano) , Purusha Irma (Violin) The band’s musical influences are varied. Their musical style is link to various genres such as indie rock, indie pop, post-rock, and Shoegazing.

Originally named Alphalpha which they took from a character in “little rascals” (alfalfa), Herald and Yudish formed this group as an acoustic and electric guitar duo to create a semi-ambient storytelling music and sings with whimsical lyrics with the sound from the children toys, and they came up with three demo songs, they had a couple gigs in Jakarta and Bandung. And then they decided to save the songs for the later of their career as a duo. 

Yudish and Herald asked Tercitra to take part in their new interest in post-rock music. Yudish was playing the drums. They made three songs after a few Jam. Still using the name alphalpha the trio has played some small gigs in Jakarta,Bandung and Yogyakarta. 

In 2008 Yudish and Herald met Ildo in a gig in Bandung, who previously helped them to record their first two demo songs. Ildo decided to join the band as a drummer soon after he came back from Germany a half year later, Yudish moved to play the bass and changed the band’s name into L’alphalpha and became a quartet. They were trying to record and make their first EP, but didn’t make it because of financial problems. 

To enrich L’alphalpha’s music Ildo asked two of his high school friends Byatriasa and Irma to join the band in 2009. Because they wanted to make the music more Cinematic and Majestic like the Icelandic music which are their major influences at that time. And soon after they played numerous gigs as a six piece band and gathers wider attention from the people and other bands. 

L’alphalpha Began working their debut album in the mid 2010, continuing their unreleased EP at Black Studio, Jakarta. And in February 2011 they self released their debut album entitled “When We Awake , All Dreams Are Gone”.
