Razor-N-Tape Reserve presents a very special new package of remixes of the band BaianaSystem, bringing together one of Brazil’s most exciting contemporary sounds with modern dance floor-minded production.

The standout track of their 2018 LP “O Futura Não Demora,” Água is a lyrical poem to the people of their native Bahia, featuring the legendary Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, with orchestral melodies, an incendiary vocal chant, and a traditional organic Brazilian rhythmic approach.

On the A side, Freerange boss Jimpster delivers two exceptional takes on the song, augmenting percussion and adding synth layers to create deep and hypnotic tribal house textures within a sublime sonic soundscape.

On the flip side Brazilian producer Diogo Strausz joins forces with RNT boss JKriv to highlight the symphonic and melodic elements with their vocal mix, and then go into dark and driving percussive electronic territory on their fiery dub. With stunning visual art realized by Costa Rican designer The Myno, this package is as essential and smooth as water!

Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an instant classic from the moment of its release in 2010, and at long last the band has teamed up with fellow Brooklynites @Razor-N-Tape for a 10-year-anniversary package (minus one lost year) that once again establishes the timeless quality of the song with a fresh and versatile package of new remixes.

Norwegian space-disco don Prins Thomas delivers a sprawling and elegant mix, grounding melodic and psychedelic elements over a bumping percussive disco rhythm treatment, stretching out over 8 minutes of blissful breakdowns, delays and driving bass lines. Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end. Each Other, a new project by Max Pask and NYC club royalty Justin Strauss, crafts an extended peak-time stormer of a mix, with churning analog drum and synth production that is somehow ravey, New-Wavey and lush all at once.

These three mixes truly capture an entire club night in one record, each a beautifully unique interpretation that showcases the inimitable talent and creativity of the remixers, and is also a testament to the enduring perfection of the original. This EP was a long time in the making. The last project completed at my Studio in Detroit before moving to NY a year ago with brother Javonntte - someone I love and respect endlessly. We laid everything down over the course of four days. We played drums together, we had homies in the studio getting down with us while ad libbing parts (you can even hear them in the background if you listen carefully). We ended up with a ton of content that I whittled down, arranged, mixed, edited, and mastered into this. The iconic Delano Smith filled in on remix duties for what was originally slated to be Mike Huckaby who had agreed to do this project just a month before his passing. Del did it justice. The stems were passed back, I mixed it down with extra moody flavor and we agreed it was perfect. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did making it. I love you Huck and I love you Eric and I'm sorry you guys couldn't see the end result.

Some might wonder, others will understand. The reason: Toy Tonics is made by the same guys who used to run the (currently sleeping) indie disco label GOMMA where Dimitri & Rocca released couple of EPs some years ago.

Less than a year after the release of their first EP with brilliant Parisian editor Chevals, Mister T. records are back with a new 12” EP showcasing Brazilian edits by Joutro Mundo, one of Rio’s hottest producers. Famous for revisiting Brazilian hidden jewels, Joutro Mundo has become a reference in the electronic music scene of Rio. He has recorded several reworks on his own label, Outra, and released EPs on Mareh Music and Midnight Riot.
He’s now joining Mister T. Records with a 3-track EP demonstrating his ability to deal with all the facets of Brazilian music. With “Jangada”, he managed to shape a great party track full of Boogie rhythms - and its furious percussions - reinforced with funky guitar riffs and sharp synths, while in “Inferno”, he kept the melancholic atmosphere from the original record. Finally, “Melo Do Camelô” is certainly the EP's most dancefloor-oriented track with its thumping tropical groove and the artist's trademark hypnotic acid touch. This record perfectly reflects Joutro’s digging / producing skills and the EP’s summery vibes will delight Brazilian music lovers and DJs!
