The title track is a Latin scorcher, this rare take on the Bobby Caldwell classic will bring warmth to any dancefloor. Got to Find a Way is a flip on the master of soul, as poignant and important as ever after a year of protests. The green side takes you deeper with a dubbed out and extended modern soul number, cut beats, dusty horns and a strong vocal. The final track, Nine Palms has a real quirky, almost broken beat feel to it with its high-hat ride pattern and punchy bass drum. A wickedly twisted analogue organ riff is quickly introduced, which is cleverly used as both a rhythm device and the melodic platform that sets up the whole track. Lex & Locke seem to be total masters of a ‘free-style funky synth lead’, and we’re treated to another slice of this particularly tasty pie in ‘Nine Palms’. Whereas Balandra is the late-night stake-out, Nine Palms is the final act where Lex & Locke high five each other following another successful bust.

Cosmic Boogie asked me to put a mix together for his re-launched blog so I put this edit together as a little exclusive for the mix and thought I'd share it here seeing as the original version (either on Chicago's Gherkin or or Italy's D-Vision) is currently changing hands for £40 plus on Discogs!

Released back in 1991, it's still for me one of the most seductive house records ever...

A few things gigwise for February. As well as the usual bit's at West London's 'The Regent' and East London's 'Big In Japan' night, I'm also playing for the Shameless Disco boy's at The Drop in Stoke Newington alongside rising star Ben Sun, really looking forward to that.

Vagabundo Club Social come from the Caribbean coast of Northern Colombia where the nights are hot and the air is thick with anticipation. DJs, producers and party-starters in their home town of Barranquilla, they love the Disco sound. 

VCS fuse elements of Disco with the traditional percussive Latin and Afro inspired music of their homeland where Carnival and King Momo still rule, and the electronic music they know and love as DJs. In Colombia music is a major part of everyone’s lives. Disco Criollo is a baby of this musical passion and comes from time spent working hard with local musicians and producers. 

A chance encounter with travelling DJ Dicky Trisco led to an instant friendship and to the track being remixed by him and released now on File Under Disco. As they say in Barranquilla ‘Those who live it are those who enjoy it’ (Quien lo vive, es quien lo goza).
