SonarMix 037: Akazie

Concrète x Bounce House was an unreal, riotous ride of elation and revelry, the crest of a wild wave, an astonishing achievement of muscle, love, community, and die-hard DIY real-deal True Believer rave shit. It was an honor to work together with Yōsuke - the legend who launched the pier jawns in the first place - to manifest this magic with a team of the nearest and dearest. … as the pier always is, this was the most chaotic carnival of humanity, bringing in the delightfully deranged for a romp across shattered glass, weathered concrete, burning shopping carts, and whoknowswhatelse straight through into shimmering, smiling dawn. 

The August 10 collaboration was the second and final edition of Concrète in the wild summer of 2024. 

This romp really had it all, from close calls to magical moments. Yōsuke b2b Wrench opened the night with funky drum machine flow, Nail Salon pushed the machines further with classic percussive techno motion, DJ Anarres picked up with that soulful spirit of sincere techno they love, and Furtive flew into dawn from pulsing darkness into scintillating daybreak trance. From there, Yōsuke, Nail Salon, DJ Anarres, and Furtive go round-robin b2b until the amps gave out and the generator choked. An adventure of laughter, tears, genuine elation, and true friendship. 

Yōsuke had some nice things to say regarding this arrangement. We’re posting this here for posterity:   “Bounce House has been a stronghold venue in philly for 2 years now, holding a musical & community ethos close to its chest resulting in the most consistently well curated and safest space to lose oneself in the city. As they’re on hiatus through the brutal heat of the summer, the dj’s of the collective ~Furtive, DJ Anarres, Nail Salon ~ will be let loose into the open air to present their each individually unique and wide spanning takes on banging it out for you. Yes indeed!!  Wrench is a bit of a mystery to me. I was actually out of the country on vacation hearing his live guest mix on Vicenta’s radio show while getting ready to go out and thought, yes. Absolutely yes … you can see a real crate digger and lover of the music. With that, I asked Wrench to b2b with me to kick this night off. Looking forward to our literal & musical meeting and what chaos might ensue!!!”

EPISODE VII ‘PERCEPTION’
Lying on my bed, I try to fall asleep.
The complete darkness of my room envelops me like a
velvet shroud.
Outside, a winter storm freezes the city, but my home is so well-insulated and
heated that the temperature allows me to lie naked on the bed without feeling cold or hot.
And that is how I sleep.
Lying naked on the bed, which I know is the only piece of furniture in
the entire room.
There isn't even the slightest intrusion of light, neither from the windows,
covered with heavy curtains, nor from the door.
Not even sound breaches the perfect
insulation with which my house was built.
I know the wind howls outside, and the rain lashes
against the window's glass, but I hear nothing.
The silence is soft, like the feather pillow
under my head.
And yet, I cannot sleep.
Because I feel them.
I know they are here with me.
I feel their gazes penetrating my flesh.
They could touch me, but they don't.
They just stare with wide-open eyes in the complete darkness.
I feel there is one crouched at the headboard of the bed, leaning their head so far forward
that they might brush me with their face.
I know there is one at my feet, with hands stretched toward them, ready to touch them.
And there are others.
Many others, so many.
They stare at me through the walls, they smile, they study my every movement — I feel them
everywhere. But the silence is perfect.

If I were to turn on the light right now, the room would be completely empty.
Nothing moves, not even a breath of wind. But I know they are there. And that keeps me
from sleeping.
Fear? I wish. It would be so comforting to feel fear.
I could find solace in a blanket or listen to music to relax.
Unfortunately, what I feel is my heart beating hard, my blood rushing fast, my
lips trembling, my mouth in hypersalivation. It’s arousal.
Their gazes put me in a feverish state; I almost gasp with desire. For them to really touch
me. Feeling them is so sweet.
Such a sweet perception.

Painter, musician,creative director,photographer, graphic designer.
Born in Mondolfo in 1975. Graduated Maestro d’ Arte at the Art Institute of Fano ( Italy ), he started very soon to work in the ateliers of contemporary artists.
Beside the art he also accomplished music studies, at the Conservatorio “ G. Rossini “ in Pesaro and then he specialized at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome.
From the age of thirteen he was  organist in Rimini , Fano and San Benedetto del Tronto at the town’s Cathedrals. He also became art director of many  prestigious Music Festivals in Italy. He participated to many  painting exhibitions and art installations in Italy and abroad.
In 2001 he created LAVS, the Sacred Vestments Atelier. The Atelier realizes  Sacred Vestments, and all the materials for the catholic cult liturgy. The Atelier shortly became a landmark in the new Sacred Vestments of the two last Popes: Benedetto XVI and Francesco.
Many works have been made for nationals and internationals events and widely spread all over.
His versatile activity is often a subject for the press.
Because of his industriousness, Filippo receives requests from museums that want to welcome his works; others agencies ask art advices.
In 2013 LAVS participated to the “ San Girolamo “ exhibit of the french painter Georges de La Tour, in Vic sur Seille. The Atelier, according to  The Louvre Museum, exactly reproduced two of the vestments presented in the painting.
 Filippo is co-founder and art director of UNUM parfums, ” maison “ that produces parfums “ d’excellence “. The fragrances are featured by  rigorous researches that have their origins in Filippo’s history, travels, art .
The trademark for Filippo’s  whole production is : VARIA VERITAS.
