You already know Tantrum Desire. They regularly destroy raves and festivals worldwide as DJs. Their productions are heard everywhere from purist D&B DJ sets to daytime
Radio 1. They've shaped a sound which weaves in dubstep and electro influences to push the boundaries of drum and bass.You know that already so, of course, you'd expect their new release to continue the evolution. 
And it does. First up is What Is Your Desire, featuring the
vocal talents of I-Kay, who D&B aficionados will recognise from anthems by the likes of Danny Byrd and Sigma. This is unmistakably the sound of now. Euphoric vocals soar over electro-tinged synths, building to a drop which delivers low-end power multiplied by I-Kay's energy. This is mind manipulation, turning up your serotonin levels whether you like it or not.That's just the radio edit. Next is the Dance Floor Pressure Mix which strips out the vocals and turns up the filth to deliver a serrated-edge version. Tantrum Desire keep the percussive riffs and builds, but add more weight in the bass to fulfil the needs of the sub-hungry junglist.Another twist in the tale is provided by dubstep's teenage prodigy Kinzy, whose mix grimes it up even further. He's taken Tantrum Desire's original story and set it in a sparse urban soundscape, populated by snarling bass tones and vicious drums.
Not to be outdone on the darkness, Tantrum Desire then deliver Unicron. This opens with percussive riffs and spacey strings, building to a half-speed D&B drop. Bass, mid and high-end do battle, shifting focus rapidly between frequency ranges to keep the dancefloor energised.
What Is Your Desire and Unicron serve to showcase the versatility of the Tantrum Desire sound.Given their track record of tracks and records you know these are sounds you'll soon be hearing spun by everyone from original junglists to brand new converts.

Far Too Loud - Firestorm EP Remixes (Funkatech Records)

What a wild few months it’s been for Far Too Loud. ‘Firestorm’ lived up to its name in every way since its July release. With heat from Diplo, Sub Focus, Pendulum, Dillon Francis, Bare Noize, Culture Shock and a whole heap more, the EP smacked a number one shaped hole in Beatport’s overall chart!

Could a remix EP possibly beat that type of success? Damn right it can; you’ve just got to pick the right remixers. Like Funkatech have, right here: each player has delivered class A cargo. Inspired by the tools Far Too Loud’s creativity has left them, SKiSM, Peo De Pitte, Specimen A and Karetus have stepped up to deliver a package that runs the gamut of everything that’s great about bass music right now.

First up, Peo De Pitte’s rub of ‘Firestorm’; a bashy bombardment of whistling peaks and stinking lows. Kicking and screaming like a Fake Blood record after a six month course of steroids. By the time you hit the build-up you can even taste a dash of techno.

Specimen A follows and ignites without delay. Rising sirens wail, giving hint to a murderous drop that’s teased by the sudden entrance of shivering synths. One sonic boom later and we’re swaggering to the most uncompromising stabs and angular grooves like we were born to such a chaotic soundtrack.

The final ‘Firestorm’ reversion comes from Karetus. Fresh from his ‘Loudness War’ EP, he’s added the scream factor with a ghost train riff that growls and grizzles across the frequencies with suspense and drumstep drama.

Last but never, ever least comes SKiSM with a rub of ‘600 Years’. In true SKiSM style, expect the unexpected; what begins as a pensive, slo-mo drumstep stomp-off swiftly switches to a gut-busting D&B shock out with amens, fat sweaty guitar chugs and all the trimmings.

With no shade or style of bass left uncovered, the whole remix EP was curated with the same spirit the genre-flexing Far Too Loud made the original in. A more than fitting follow up to Funkatech’s biggest record of the year, we’re sure you agree!
