Olivia Mendez is the 453rd guest of our original HATE Podcast series.

Olivia Mendez is a French DJ and producer based in Berlin, and the owner of the label Dust In Grooves. Deeply rooted in the queer underground, she is also an activist and community builder, creating safer and more inclusive spaces through projects such as her collective KONVENT, as well as the sub-label DIG Curated, which she runs together with Chami.

This vinyl-only mix takes you on a smooth, progressive journey where every track connects with precision and purpose. A homemade one take re-creation of my set from MERGE, a collaborative free party on 6 Sept 2025 ran by some of Meanjin/Brisbane's leading techno collectives. For my 9:30-11pm set I wanted to bring the audience from a slower, more housey vibe, up towards the peak time driving techno that our DJs are known for.

Being a re-creation (not recorded on the night), this isn't exactly accurate, but I at least know the rough order I played my tracks in. I made a few extra mistakes live and I guess I also played a bit slower, because this has a few extra tracks on the end which I didn't get to play. As always, track list is below:

Always going the unsuspected route with no compass to guide us back onto the normative boulevard, Irakli takes us on a bumpy ride across jagged proto-technoid topographies, fractal-like foldings and mind-expanding new horizons of musical possibilities.
