The trenches here are full of rain full of BlackWater
Gunfire cracks and nerves they snap pages from the good bool sail on by me
Twisted metal, blood and flesh there just lying in the grass
Finers tight hold a wooden cross theres prayers for the suffering the dying and the lost
Young men faced down in the BlackWater....

Theres a river here and if you stand by it long enough you'll see your enemies come a floating by
Theres little good air to breathe here your lungs they fight to try
Im remembering you so clearly now today I never caught your last words
I walked too soon away...

In the late afternoon the vultures fly they black out the sky
I cant find a good place in my memory to settle me by
I count the hours, seconds, minutes and the day's
And when I close my eyes to sleep I see young men faced down in the BlackWater...
