My brother Finsent has been exploring space since 2004

One of the first sound systems that tickled Finsents imagination back in the early 90's was the X-lag system, showing him his first glimpse of the free party scene. Soon after he absorbed the energy that was put out by other systems like Hardcore Peace Generation, Cybx-010, Mononom, KX, K9, ZMK, TDK, Hasna and many many more. He played his records at many different places whenever he got a chance but it took some time before he found his place with his local team of brothers and sisters Wirwar.  Here he managed to create a base for himself to output his crazy livesets and manic djsets.  Some of his muses were his good friends Curley and the guys from the Rythmic Alkaloid Factory (RAF) they showed him what it was like to jam away and get lost in sound produced by analog machines .... He was inspired too by his mate Robbert (Sensory Overload) who had just started to build his own software and sequencer, opening up the digital domain so to say ...   Guys like Valentijn, Bas and Ries, and girlies like Annette, Heike and Raquel were his dj-buddies, those days you had to be glued to the dj-booth if you wanted to find out what those records were that were actually moving more than just your feet ... or be lucky to spend many lost hours with friends who were showing each other their most precious gems ....  he allways had a little want-list of records in his wallet that came along when he visited the many record shops he found on his ways ...  those were the days before the internet and discogs transformed record buyers into mouseclickers that could get anything, if their wallet was big enough ...  

We also should not forget the legendary Spiral Tribe that had just landed in europe around those days, their free spirit and their live sets and way of producing records and throwing parties had a lifelong influence on the way Finsent perceived the free party scene. He started out making music with a tr505, a simple mixer and an equalizer. He is well known for his use of the magical feedback that he managed to incorporate in a very abnormal "controlled" way, giving his livesets a unique "rough and punky" feel. He rocked many dancefloors around europe, played at many fields at the first proper teknivals, from holland to czech and inbetween, his good mate Munne from the KX system was his favourite road companion as his truck was able to roll, and serve as a hostel / music studio at the same time. 

It has taken a long time for me to get to the point where I could start sharing some of his live sets and dj-mixes, and at times it still becomes way too emotional for me to hear and process his music, but realising that there are so many others out there that will now have the choice to once again be tickled by his tunes, makes me smile. 

Finsent was a unique spirit, sometimes cornered by the madness of modern society, but in essence a truely gifted musician that is dearly missed. 
We like to think he is up there, making music with Curley and Jimi  =]
