My eyes rested upon a shrine of dusty magazines. I left my body because the memories stored inside were too high of a price to pay for a fleeting moment of pleasure. My eyes glazed over at his bike leaning against the dresser. Typical. Like one of those windup toys, we both followed through with the fixed motions we’ve been set to. I dipped my toes back into my skin to get a sense of it -back to the rhythms of the room. 

	This isn’t awful.

	I arched my back to look at the clock that hung over his bed frame. 

	I want to go home.

	I kind of don’t like him. 

	Maybe he doesn’t like me either.

Cringe

the cry for divine intervention. to a god, a spirit we are not entirely sure if we want to believe in. recalling simpler times, where we found solace in song, with a guardian whose presence once brought joy and solace. social constraints and expectations can stifle individuality, yet holding onto that belief can also push us away from ourselves more than belonging to something. a universal yearning for grace and renewal.
